20 Most Recent Sunpak DX-8R TTL Ring Light Flash Questions & Answers

I had a DX-12R for some time several years ago until it was stolen. I loved it. I recently purchased a used 8R and it is fine but I still like the 12R better. Especially the preview light feature. Ok. Make sure the batteries are all good, one bad apple does spoil the whole bunch. Check your cord connections and finally make sure the hot shoe connection is clean. That last one was usually the culprit when I had problems. Note that your hot shoe on your camera could also be going bad. I had a Ricoh that did that, I thought it was the flash. Good luck.

Hello Don. THe DX 8R is a low output devise well below the 250 volts that Nikon mentions. Regarding the small label you site, the 50/60 Hz simply means you can use it in the states with 60 Hz and 110 volts or in Europe with 50 Hz and 220 volts with out any voltage converter. Finally the 45W indicates 45 watts.
All said, you should be fine with the DX 8R and all of your Nikon cameras. Regards, Joe

You will need the proper module. Check with B&H photo for the module compatable with your Olympus camera body.

Firstly, be sure to check flash voltage. Your 30D may accept max 6V so that your camera can be shot if the flash unit has higher voltage than 6V.
1. Use low ISO to keep low noise....around f/8 or more depends on your need and how much DOF you want.....Set the shutter speed around 1/125 to your max speed to stop any movement (your subject or camera itself shaking).
2. Above is set in Manual mode (iso100, f/8 1/125 or 1/250), then you just need to leave the flash to work in TTL mode.
3. It needs battery, the connection is for syncing to trigger and release a proper flash power (in TTL mode).
Hope this help!

When it is not triggering either Tube is dead or Trigger circuit has a problem. You can get junk flash from Ebay.

This should be covered in the manual - it is probably an error message of some description.

Have you tried other flashguns ? Does this unit work on test ?

I think you would need to send it for repair but be aware of the cost of repair as apposed to a new unit.

Yes you can. All you need is a small inexpensive slave unit.
