It sounds like the Hard Drive has failed. You an get a new drive for $30 from Amazon or BestBuy. Replace the hard drive and install an Operating system of choice. The Old drive may not be accessible, thus be prepared to accept the loss of data as all may be lost.

You seem to have isolated the problem to the microphone. If the opening to the microphone is not blocked by dust or lint or some other substance then the microphone itself will need to be replaced. You might be able to verify the function of the microphone with an oscilloscope or volt meter, or simply replace it. Sorry there is not an easier solution.

What netbook is it?

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

I personally use AVG rescue disk and have successfully installed it onto a USB stick using WinSetupFromUSB http://code.google.com/p/winsetupfromusb/downloads/listuse the PartedMagic/Ubuntu Desktop Variants /Other G4D comp. You need to install the microphone driver which is available on Manufacturer's website along with that you also have sound drivers install that too.

It seems that you are having problem with the keyboard functionality. Is it typing numbers instead of letters? Just press Fn Nmlk for you to be able to disabled the Numlock on the computer.

sounds like a browser issue. try installing firefox or google chrome update your adobe flash from adobe.com and java.com also download cc cleaner from filehippo.com and run the cleaner to remove and stuck or bad cookies on the computer let me know if this helped

Try to re-enable the startup programs. You don't need that program to enable start-up items. However, you will need to do some digging to find out exactly WHAT has been disabled. Otherwise, you have no other choice BUT to do a clean install, or revert to your last backup. Those options are way more trouble than reinstalling software.

If your power supply isn't burned out. Then your motherboard went bad. If you have a warranty then have it replaced.

That is because that feature is not available with XP.

if its a bios password your after just remove the battery for a minute and replace ..or their could be jumpers on the board to clear it
