It doesn't work at all

If you have no lights at all and you have power to the circuit double check that the circuit board is connected properly first since you replaced that. On some models there is a safety circuit installed that disconnects power in the event it detects a short or fault. If the motor faults out or any one of the switches at the bottom of the machine then the circuit will short and you will get no lights. I do not recommend working on this with live power connected. You can check most of the circuits with an Ohm meter. If you have continuity between any hotwire and a ground then you have a short and you will need to isolate this and repair the short. Please do not try this with power as it is very dangerous to do so.

Top rack won't clean

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

My quiteguard 2 will not drain what could it be?

Hi,

Check the following :-

Drain line/air gap A clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again.

Pump Your dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support.

Look for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace them.

Drain valve and/or solenoid Many dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever, sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly. Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain valve diverts the water.

Other dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.

Belt One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it.

Motor If the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section "It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may need to be replaced.

Some dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.

Timer Part of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to replace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

Hope i helped you.

It sounds like a door leak. There isn't a whole lot of water in the bottom of a dishwasher so it may just have looked like soap. Open the door and using a bright flashlight check the rubber seals carefully. Look for any torn or out of place gasket material. I think you will find that you need to have the gasket replaced which is not all that expensive.

Kenmore UltraWash Dishwasher is leaking from black hose...

No you will have disconnect the copper line. I would suggest that while you have it out that you replace the copper line with a braided stainless steel hose (also known as a dishwasher connector hose) If possible get a 60" or 72" hose so you can hook up the dishwasher when it is out and then push it back in with the water supply already hooked up.

We have had the same problem with clear glasswear with both Kenmore and Maytag diswashers, in fact any diswasher I have used. It seems to be a problem with diswasher soaps. Either try a different soap (continue using Jet Dry), or do what I do and periodically go over your glasswear with an SOS pad.

Hi,

I would still troubleshoot all the points :-

Power from the house Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns and breaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must be repaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors.

Timer or selector switch Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.

Hope i helped.

Water wont drain after wash!! Dishes wont dry all the way also

HI, usually, if the dishwasher dose not drain properly, it will be the fault of a defective or, malfunctioning pump. i will list several problem areas to check. Inspect each area properly and, replace any component that is faulty or fouled.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer/control board
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Wont do anything, not even drain

Try unplugging the unit for 15 minutes then plug it back in. If that fails it sounds like the inline fuse which means you will have to pull out the dishwasher and look near the pump is blown and fuse needs to be replaed

Water flow does not stop.

The water inlet valve has gone bad. Depending on what the water was either hot or cold I would be safe and just replace both of them. You can get them at your local appliance store or at repairclinic.com. They are located behind the back panel of the washing machine right where the hoses connect to the unit

Water not draining and not clean

When dirty water is left in the dishwasher the pump assembly is a primary cause. To assure that the dishwasher gets fully repaired and you are going to do the work yourself, I would order and install this part:

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-16529000-%3d%3dc261i1065702&PartID=1065702

Also, check that the heating element is working. Many people replace the heating element whenever they replace the pump/ motor.

Good Luck!

Smelly dishes from Kenmore Ultra Wash

If you post the model number of your dishwasher plus its approximate age (in years) I can help more.

But the most common cause is a weakening pump motor. On many dishwashers, the wash pump motor is also the drain motor. Replacing that motor / pump assembly will solve the problem. While you are replacing the pump, check the heating element to confirm that it is not shorted out or broken.

For now, add a cap full of bleach to the water _after_ the initial dishwasher fill cycle ends and the wash cycle begins. White vinegar would also work, but this will not fix your problem.

Good Luck!
