My 2009 Macbook Pro had a problem which sounds very like this this last year. I had the padlock a few times. Opening in single user mode sorted it for a bit. After a month or two it got more frequent, then it would not start at all. For Single User mode you hold CMD and s while switching on power button. When it stops all its Unix stuff you type fsck -fy and hit enter. (don't forget the space). After a while it will say "appears to be ok" , then type exit and hit enter. After a minute or so reboots... Like I said, mine got worse and finally wouldn't fire up at all. I was told by one company that it was likely to be the Logic Board; and was quoted £150, with the option to buy a refurbished Macbook from them at a 'discount' if they couldn't fix it, Then I found a guy who quoted £90, and his deal was No Fix, No Pay. I went for it. And he did it. I had it back the same day. And it's never shut itself down since. He told me it's usually just two little capacitors on the Logic board that dry out when the Mac is a few years old. And he showed them to me on a dismantled board. They are tiny - about 3mm long. You would need to be very skilled with a soldering iron to do it yourself.

Have you tried holding in the power & home buttons together until the screen goes blank & then the apple logo reappears? if so, what happens when you connect to iTunes via your computer? Do you have the option to reset that way?

you could take it to any apple store and they will be able to reset your iphone.

Go into the Health app on your iPhone. Touch the SOURCES button at the bottom of the screen. Apps that you've installed (like NuMi) that are requesting access to your Health app will appear there. If NuMi appears tap on it. Select the options that come up, that allow NuMi to read data to Health and write data to Health. Once that's done, your 2 apps should begin sharing data.

You can try to call Apple and explain the situation... it's very unlikely that without proof of purchase youll be able to do much with this device as it sounds like it's activation locked or just signed into iCloud ... if it's just signed into iCloud you can use it, but won't be able to sign out of the Apple ID ever until the previous owner removes the Apple ID from the device.
