When my Kenmore 665 dishwasher

I do believe most manufacturers recommend emptying the strainer after each wash (much like you would a lint filter on a clothes dryer). With the door open, look inside on the bottom. You should see a plastic cylinder shape about 2-3" in diameter. Twist it counterclockwise and gently pull up. This traps large pieces of food, and the occasional piece of plastic wrap, toothpicks, etc. that seem to get past the kiddos when they load it. If you find large amounts of food particles, I suggest pre-rinsing pots, pans, plates before placing them in. Good luck, and please keep us informed of the progress on this concern.

Doesn't drain

If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain pump might be defective. Test the pump motor with an Ohm meter. Drain pumps are not repairable, if it's defective it will need to be replaced. HERE ARE SOME OTHER COMMON CAUSES: H Drain impeller. The drain impeller is attached to the pump and pushes the water out of the dishwasher through the drain tube and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the dishwasher won't drain, the drain impeller might be broken or worn out. Replace both the impeller and seal at the same time. Drain Solenoid Kit. The drain solenoid kit might need to be replaced. The drain solenoid is an actuator that opens a flap to allow the water to drain. Drain Valve. The drain valve can get clogged with debris and should be cleaned out if the dishwasher won't drain. If it seems clear of debris but won't actuate, it will need to be replaced. Clogged or Improperly Installed Garbage Disposer. If the dishwasher won't drain and the garbage disposer was installed recently, the installer might have forgotten to knock out the drain plug from this disposer. All garbage disposers are sold with a solid plug in the drain tube for situations where a dishwasher isn't connected. However, if the dishwasher is connected, the plug needs to be removed. If the disposer wasn't replaced recently, remove the dishwasher drain hose from the disposer and clean out both the fitting on the disposer and the end of the drain hose. These are the most common places to find an obstruction if the dishwasher won't drain. Check Valve. The check valve might be stuck closed. The check valve is a small plastic device which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the valve gets stuck closed, it will prevent the water from draining. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher. Check Ball. The check ball might be stuck. The check ball is a small plastic ball in the check valve which prevents water from returning to the dishwasher after it has drained. If the ball gets stuck, it will prevent the water from draining also. The check valve is the device that the drain hose is attached to on the dishwasher. HOPE THIS HELPS. HOPES THIS HELPS.HOPE

I have a 665.16039401 kenmore dishwasher and the clean light continues to blink. I can not run any cycles

Ah, the famous (or infamous) Clean-light blinking problem. Watch that blinking light.... You say it blinks 7 times, pauses, and repeats, right? Well, 7 blinks which means "water not heating error". This could be caused by a bad heating element, a bad thermal cutoff or thermostat, a bad controller, or a problem with the door latch and/or switches. Usually, the most common problem is that 1 of the 2 switches inside the door latch is not getting engaged fully. This may be caused by something getting spilled (like a soda) into the door latch that is making it stick, or the door strike may be weak and not pressing down on the door latch hard enough. If it's the latch, you would need to take the door apart and remove the latch mechanism (unplug the dishwasher first!), remove the switches, and clean the plastic parts with water, dry it, and then re-assemble. The other thing to check is the door strike, which is supposed to push down the latch. The springiness of this metal part may be weak. You can remove that door strike, bend it down more, and then re-install it. Then you need to reset the controller by running a diagnostic cycle. Do that by pressing the following sequence of keys: Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry). You will know that you have entered the diagnostic cycle when all the lights light up for a few seconds. Let the dishwasher run the diagnostic cycle for a few minutes, and then press Cancel to stop the dioagnostic cycle and clear the error. If the problem re-occurs, then the cause may be a bad heating element or a bad controller. Note: On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3. My kenmore ultra wash instaled

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Water comes to the dishwasher

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the water comes however, won't go inside the unit then it indicates that the problem is either with a clogged/blocked inlet valve or the water inlet valve itself has gone bad and needs replacement. You can also test two terminals of the water inlet valve before replacing it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Door seals rotting out on westinghouse freestyle 920 dishwasher

If the machine is kept idle for long time without use, these types of problem happens.

When not in use, apply talcum powder over the gasket. Moist the powder and apply as it will fall off . Leave the door slightly open by keeping some folded cloth or some other soft material and close the door.

Contact the service provider and protect the electronics by a water-resistant cover.

My Kenmore Dishwasher won't turn

Hi,
A device may cease to function or operate sporadically if the electrical cord is damaged. Inspect the cord for any damage. Check whether there are any black smudges or burn marks on the outlet, cord or anywhere the cord comes in contact. Also check for cracks in the shielding or exposed wire. If you find anything faulty you have to replace the cord.
The door latch pulls the door tightly closed to prevent water leakage around the door. It is also designed to prevent operation while the door is open. The door latch works in concert with the door switch to ensure that the door is tightly closed and latched. If the door latch is not properly aligned it may not pull the door tightly closed and the door switch will not be fully depressed. Unless the switch is fully depressed the dishwasher will not operate.

Thank you !!

Leaking dishwasher

Hello there:
If your dishwasher is very old, the tub itself may have becomecorroded and may have holes. Inspect your tub; if you see such damage, use an epoxy patch kit to repair it, following the kit’s directions.Another possibility is that your dishwasher is not level; this cancause leakage. Open your dishwasher and place a carpenter’s level onthe floor of the dishwasher or on its door. If you find that thedishwasher is not level, you may be able to fix the problem byadjusting the feet, found along the front of the dishwasher, perhapsbehind a toeplate.
If you have not yet found the problem, the next step is lookinginside the dishwasher. Again, disconnect power to the dishwasher beforegetting started. Remove the front panel located below the door; thismay be held on with screws or with hooks. Your goal down here is tofind what is leaking so that you can either adjust or replace it. Youwill see a drain hose, about an inch and a half across, which connects from the dishwasher pump to the drain of your kitchen sink.At either end, it is held in place with a clamp. Check these clamps; ifthey are loose, use a screwdriver to tighten them. Check the hoseitself for any signs of leakage; if the hose appears to be damaged andleaking, replace it. There is a second hose, the recirculation hose, also attached to the pump. Inspect the fitting and tighten ifnecessary, and inspect the hose itself.

Check the hoses on either side of the water inlet valve to makesure that they are securely connected, and that they are not damaged.Tighten any loose clamps.

The next and last items to check are the gaskets for the heating element, and the seal for the pump. If the gaskets are loose, tighten them; ifthey are obviously worn or damaged, replace them. If you have checkedeverything else, the pump seal may have deteriorated.

Not cleaning

The water first gets pushed into the dishwasher from the water supply, then fills up until the float detects the water level, the water then gets drained into the sump pump and either drains to the plumbing or shoots up through the arm inside the dishwasher. Thats a basic cycle anyways. If it is draining into the sump pump like its supposed to, and not coming out through the arm, then something is blocking it or a solenoid/relay isnt working properly on the pump. If its not draining at all, which you would be able to hear if it were from the sucking or gargling sounds, then the same follows, just in different areas. I know its not to technical, just hoping to shed some more light on the situation.

Cannot afford a plumbing or to replace the

Hi,

F8 would indicate a water level failure.

Check that the drain hose hasn't dropped down too low and also check that the water isn't siphoning out because the drain hose is too far into the stand pipe.

Check that the filters, especially the fine mesh one, is clean and clear.

If neither of the above, take the filters out, clean out the black grid on the right side of the sump.. Pour a kettle of boiling water into the sump getting as much as possible into the black grid. Select the hottest wash and try the machine again.

You could also look at the below points :-

Dishwasher Leaking

Main tub seal

Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you. But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the entire pump and motor assembly. The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher, remove the: Lower rack Spray arm Spray arm support Wash/drain impellers Then pry the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal

Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve

The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten or repair/replace these as necessary. The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses

Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.
Let me know, if the problem persists.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Leaking Kenmore Elite at the right front of dishwasher

Sorry to hear of your plight. My advice is to ask for a new machine under the lemon law since they cannot get it fixed. You can also try calling Whirlpool who is the manufacturer but they are likely to tell you to work with Sears. They were out under warranty and it has not remained fixed so the warranty should carry through since you called for service while still in warranty. I feel for the tech because it is frustrating to have a problem that you cannot find a cure for be the tech should also have escalated it to the tech support line for resolution. (I was a Sears tech for 21 years)
