try reformatting the SD Card

by the way if you store anything on the card via the USB port it will freeze your camera, it only recognizes video and picture filenames created by the camera, so I guess it may have a corrupte filename or something, reformatting the card can be a solution for you

If it can be of any help I did manage to find information on how can I eliminate noise during video recording on the Zi8:
Turn off Continuous AF (auto focus) to prevent recording camera noise during video capture. When you turn off Continuous AF, you may notice a narrower area of focus or depth of field, especially if you zoomed to a telephoto position before recording.

1. Turn the Mode dial to Video, then press the Menu button.
2. Highlight the Continuous AF menu, then press the OK button.
3. Highlight Off or Single AF (certain models), then press the OK button. (On is the default.)
4. Press the Menu button to turn off the menu screen.

This setting remains until you change it, change the Mode dial, or turn off the camera.

Since you declined to specify the model of your Kodak video camera, enter it into the search box here to find the manual.

The media you are using to record onto must be out of service.

Try to plug it off and plug it in.

You can try to format it, if it's possible, this could fix the problem.

On the other hand is better and safer to buy a new one. I recommend this option.

If you think this is not a media problem, refer to a camcorder service specialist, it may be a hardware problem as well.
