The power saver mode is a Lexmark X5650 feature that allows you to save electricity when the printer's not being used. That can be configured in the Device Setup in Settings. Adjust it on how long you want the printer to stay on before going on power saver mode but it can't be turned off. When the printer is on power saver mode, press and release the power button to power back on. Hope this helps.

The power saver mode can not be turned off. This feature is designed for you to save energy on power consumption and reduce impact to the environment. You can easily adjust the time on when you want the power saver mode engaged. Press Setup > Device Setup > Power Saver. You can set it to activate after 240 minutes at most.

Some printer-vendors sell "half-full" ink-cartridges, to get you to _sooner_ buy replacement ink-cartridges.

Also, some printers need to be "told" (via software) that the ink-cartridge has either been replaced or refilled. Your printer could be one of those printers.

Lexmark often package a black and a tri-colour cartridge together and call it a "Combo Pack" but it is still two seperate cartridges that are installed as you would usually.

I hope this is what you were asking. I am not aware of a "combo" print cartridge for this particular machine.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Usually, faxes are temporarily sent to the printer's memory when one of the cartridges' ink level is not substantial for printing at the instance of receiving the fax. When this happens, try to replace the cartridge(s), *without navigating away from the message "fax sent to memory", by opening the printer cover and replacing the low-ink or empty cartridge(s). After the new cartridge is installed, close the printer cover and press the OK button. Your printer should then print the fax stored in the memory.
*Make sure not to navigate away from the "fax sent to memory" message, otherwise, data will be lost.

sounds like a blown fuse.Take a test light and check each side of the fuse prong for power,if the test light comes on both sides of fuse,then fuse is good.If not check that fuse to be bad.You must have the ignition key on to do this. Hope this will help you.

The Lexmark X5650 printer requires both the black and color cartridges to be inserted in the printer to continue printing. Both cartridges must have ink in them and not empty.

Somehow, the print spooler of your computer got disabled. Here's how you enable it. Go to Start Menu > click on Run (for XP)/Search (for Vista or Windows 7)> type services.msc then hit Ok. Services window will pop up. Look for Print Spooler in the items (it's arranged alphabetically). Right click on Print Spooler > click on Properties. Printer Spooler Properties window pops up. In General tab, make sure that Startup type should be Automatic and Service Status shoud be Started. Then go to Log On tab, uncheck Allow service to interact with desktop. Hit Apply and then hit Ok to save the settings. If problem is not resolved, place a comment so I can get back to this. Thanks.

Can you provide us more details like the e.g. Operating System you are using, Type of connection you are using for the printer (USB or Network Printer?) Anything you have installed before this problem occured? Specific Error Message? Antivirus or Firewall application?

You need to go to the store and buy a USB printer cable, just go to an office supply store or a technology store and ask them for one. They are generally expensive. If you want to find one that is inexpensive check out monoprice.com, but it has to come in the mail which takes a while.
