5650 Yamaha receiver I turn it on and it just turns back off by its self

That will be a safety feature. It's clearly suffering from an overload in either the power supply or audio output stages. Either take it in for a service, or look inside (with the power off) for damage to the amp. Check the devices attached to the heat sink.

Yamaha rx-v373 surround sound through HDMI ARC starts then stops. If I unplug HDMI and plug it in again, I get sound for 2 seconds then stops.

You cannot run HDMI from any source thru the Yamaha to the TV. The V661 is 1st generation HDMI headache. Version 1.1 which basically is useless. Don't blame Yamaha, it's not their fault, it's HDMI. All manufacturer's receivers prior to 09' series use either 1.1, 1.2, or 1.2a. and they all have issues. So, here's the skinny, run your audio to your receiver via optical or digital coaxial. Then run video directly to the TV via HDMI if you wish. The problem arises when you have more sources than inputs on your TV. Depending on the size of your TV can make a big difference in how you wire it. If your TV is 50" or smaller, just use component, the human eye cannot differentiate between 720p and 1080p and that's a fact. second fact, most TV shows are broadcast in a native resolution of 720p, the only real 1080p programming is on HDNET, Discovery,National Geographic and The NFL. What I mean by that is the camera used to take the actual picture is a 1080p camera. Major money! so, that being said, if your tv is larger than 50", and it's 1080p not 1080i yes, you can see a difference. If you post a comment and list all your product, I can give you the best possible way to put it all together. I feel your pain and aggrivation! I am a Yamaha, Marantz, Proceed, and Adcom Dealer. I get it from all sides! If there's anyway I can make it easier for you, I will. Hope this helps

My Yamaha receiver makes a clicking sound when I hit the power button but won't turn on

Hi, Please check that the cables are connected properly. And then you can check for any damage to any of the cables connected to your receiver. If still having issues, you can move your device to another power outlet and check if it will turn on with that power source. Thank you.

When I turn on my Yamaha RX-V657 without the speaker wire connected, it only stays on for one second and then turns off. No error is displayed on the screen. Is this normal?

you forgot to see the AVR works prefectly using speakers 8,6 or 4 Ohms Z, selected to right ohms the switch. does it? if yes he below is moot, why do that. it there is sound source running, and loud and you have no speakers there, that can damage some amps. so don't do that, some AVR have no error code, protection lamp just relay clicks your AVR is really old a sea of RCA jacks on the rear. there is no need to run any amp ever, lacking a set of speakers. 7.1, does have rules here, no sure me miniumum rules. may be 2 are required min. (the selected set A or B) what I do is read the manual first . found it googled in 1second flat. page 88 The protection circuitry has been activated. Make sure all speaker wire connections on this unit and on all speakers are secure and that the wire for each connection does not touch anything other than its respective connection Check that the impedance selector setting is correct ok I have repaired amps (AVR and others back to 1960s) the protects circuits trip 1 or 3 ways or both (tech facts)
  1. over currant the PA (power amps at speaker jacks)
  2. or imbalanced driver transistor pair (push pull or class A)
  3. or overvoltages there. now.
so if it has way 3, and he source is full volume and heavy metal band then it trips. no speakers due to output is way too high. an amp that can do 1000w peak can do 90v peak to a speaker. yours is 95watts RMS each , peak is not stated. nor is protects stated in absolute terms. free https://www.manualslib.com/manual/340487/Yamaha-Rx-V657.html?page=18#manual answer 1,. turn off all sources and volume down to run no speakers. also it told you power off to connect. speakers. when you do not power on the surge in the PC can be huge so it tells not to do that.
