Kenwood kdc-mp442u protect mode came

First of all , your Kenwood shows only Protect on the display when your speakerwires are conflicting with each other , but when you cannot find the problem there....

disconnect them one by one to see wich speaker in your car is conflicting (shortcuts).

Replace that speaker and your kenwood will work just fine.

I had the same problem here with a brand new Clarion speaker .

My subwoofers don't work

Check the fuse on the amp.
Plug a different source like an iPod into the amp to ensure that the subs and amp still work.

If your still not getting anything I would recommend visiting a reputable car audio shop in your area and getting them to check over the system.

"kdc-mp442u reset button???? face plate?

It's usually behind the face plate. Take off the face plate there should be a reset button, you will need a small pin to reset it. I also included a link to the manual for more help if needed.

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP442U Deck and protect will not come off

check speakers for a short protect means one of the speakers are shorting so check all the connections on speakers or if you have a multimeter put the black to ground and put it on contanuity and check from the plug at the unit and it will beep if one is shorting then you know which one to check instead of pulling your whole car apart:)

I'm quite sure my cars aftermarket deck is

if you have a multimeter you should check your speakers to see how much resistance they have. if less than 3 or 4 ohms, you may have bad speakers.
also, the speakers may be wired improperly.
