Hi, I used to work for Lanier repairing all the tape machines. The sound you are referring to is feedback coming from a dirty record/playback switch. You would need to either disassemble and clean the switch, which would take some dexterity, or replace the switch entirely, which would require good de-soldering skills and of course the replacement switch. Unless there is some sentimental attachment to the device, I would recommend you use a digital recorder, as the cost of repairing the unit if you took it to someone would far outweigh its value. Well, if you want to change DVD into film, you need a DVD ripper program to do that. For Windows computer users, they can use a free program named VLC Media Player. Let's say, now we want to convert DVD to MOV format. Steps will be shown below.
