My Washer won't drain...?
check the lid switch and tightend all the hinge screws. if the unit thinks the lid is open it won't spin or drain.
Kenmore Model 970-C4909700
This could be a problem with drain - if its not closing the tub will not fill. check to see if that has some kind of blockage. If this is the You might see a difference in times on different SIZE loads and Maybe different wash cycles. You said it does it on all cycles but is the it shuts off the same on each cycle?
Have you tried running - Just cold water ? Try that. try Just hot, see if there is a difference there.
Another thing that could be causing this is the timer, if the timer is shutting it down then it will probably NOT be a different time of shut down for every cycle.
I do not believe 11 years should be the end of a appliance lifetime personally But a lot of companies quit making parts for models that are past dates that they determine, for instance, I have a stainless French door kitchenaid and have no way to replace the door gaskets. It looks new and works perfectly and has ripped magnetic seals.
Sears has done a lot shutting down and selling off brands and models and Kenmore was pretty much sold by Sears. Front end loader machines with electronic computer boards often have parts that run so high people junk them. I have made quite a lot of machines run for years and years past their initial ***** date by looking for machines people do not want and robbing parts. The reason they do this is some timers cost 6 hundred bucks and why not just get a different washer at that price?
There definitely is an answer - sometimes it's dirty cheap, go through some more tests . also be sure of your Model Number 970 is a constant. Some model have slightly different parts if they are made in Canada Vrs the USA.
sorry i cant pin point this with such few clues. Hopefully it's a quick test away and a cheap easy to find part to buy.
What to do when LF meaning too long to fill code on my Kenmore Top-Loading HE washing machine.
There are a few things to check for a long fill error. First, did water enter the washer? If no, then make sure that the shut-off valves to the washer are open. Take off the washer hoses and check the your water flow rate by opening the shut-off valves one at a time. Let the water flow into a bucket. Replace the hoses if the anti-flood hoses are restricting the water flow. If the incoming water pressure/flow rate is good, then the inlet valve has failed in the closed position. You'll need to replace the inlet valve of the washer.
If water did flow into the washer, how much water flowed in? I've seen inlet valves get partially clogged. Then the solution is to replace the valve. If the washer completely filled in the expected time, then the problem is in the water pressure sensor. This could happen if there is dirt in the air tube. Try blowing out the air tube. Otherwise, you'll have to check the sensor, wiring and the control board. The control board didn't get the washer full message when the tub reached the appropriate water level.
I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number of your Kenmore HE washer for the parts diagram.
(On my washer, the LF message came when there was a build-up of calcium carbonate on the hot water side only. We managed a temporary fix using vinegar to dissolve the deposit inside the valve. Replacing the inlet valve was a more permanent fix.)
Clothes getting twisted around agitator
That does not sound good. New dogs sound great, but you must get to the bottom of why the clothes are becoming twisted on the agitator. Usually not enough WATER. Think loose flow of clothes submerged.
Long story short, you cannot jam pack this machine. Less clothes, more water, will equal long life.
Be sure that the mating teeth for the dogs, is not damaged. Slipping here would make loud noise.
More water, less clothes.
