How Do I Make the Linksys WRT160n Wireless-N Only

Hello, Sit at your computer and open up IE browser. After this has opened up, go up to the url bar and erase anything there and when this is blank, type in http://192.168.1.1 then hit the enter key. The router should now pop up a login menu close to the middle of your monitor. The default password for Linksys routers is ADMIN leave the user name blank and just enter the password ADMIN This then will open up the routers main menus and at the top of the tabs look for the tab named "wireless" click on this tab and look this menu over and you should find the box to check or uncheck to accomplish what you want done. Good luck. By the way, while your in the routers menu "Change the Default Password" to something that you have to write down! leaving the password set the the factory default is a huge mistake. Like leaving all your windows and doors open going on a long vacation! Got it? Dennis

Linksys WRT300N router flashing all lights

On the back of the router you will see what looks like a pin hole, turn the router on and use a paperclip to push into the hole(it's a reset button) and keep it pushed in till the router cycles off then on again, it resets the router to default. Hope this helps.

How do I find network key for wrt120n router

Every router I have ever seen allows you to reset the configuration to factory default - but not allow you to retrieve a forgotten password and maintain your settings at the same time. This is often referred to a "factory" or "hard" reset. When you initiate a factory / hard reset, typically by pressing & holding a button on the router - or behind an opening in the router case - all the changes you've made to it will be returned to the factory default. Wifi becomes "open" with no password (on most devices), the login username / password also go back to default settings (common ones are: admin / admin, admin / password, <blank> / admin, <blank / password, etc.). Consult your router's set up guide or online documentation to learn what the factory / hard reset procedure and the default settings. Once you gain access to the setup pages of the router, configure it as best as you can remember, and lock it down with good security settings. At minimum - this should include changing the router's username / password, the WiFi's SSID and do not broadcast it, add WPA or WPA2 encryption and secure it with a security or network key (use a mix of numbers, letters, symbols etc.). I suggest recording all these settings on paper and then tape it to the bottom of the router. There it will remain out of sight - but ready when you need it. Good luck!

They keep saying i am keying in the wrong wireless password. Is this the router password or am i suppose to find another one. please help

My Linksys wireless router uses a different password to setup a wireless connection with the SSID (wireless account name) than the password for logging into the router for administrative purposes. So I suspect you need a different password. However, without knowing which make/model of router you have, I can't help you identify where to find the information for your wireless setup. Please add a comment with your router information for additional assistance. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Windows security center

If this is your router and you've forgotten the username or password we suggest that the router be reset and then setup with a new username and password. Default username and password Before doing a hard reset on the router you may want to try the default username and password. While this is not the same for all routers, this may allow you access to your router. Username: Admin or Administrator Password: <Blank>, try just pressing enter or try "admin" as the password as well. If this does not work and you believe the router is using the default username and passwords try viewing the default settings at routerpasswords.com Sometimes when attempting to visit a secure website on your Windows computer, you will receive a message about a security certificate error. You will have the option of whether to continue to the site. Secure websites, such as an online bank or retail store, use security certificates so your browser knows that any financial or personal information you enter on the website will go the correct place securely. Every error message does not necessarily indicate a security problem on the website. Check your computer's date and time. If they are incorrect, you will receive security certificate errors. Click on the time in your taskbar, and set the correct time in the pop-up window. Refresh the website where you received the error message. If you receive a security certificate error message again, the problem lies with the website's security certificate. Click the icon that looks like a padlock next to your browser's address bar. Read the information in the window. This will detail who owns the website, the site's verification status and any known information about the website's trustworthiness. Compare this to what you know about the site you were attempting to visit. Click "View Certificates, then "Install Certificates." Click "Yes" at the security warning to install the certificate for the website.
