Factory restore

According to Linksys support, you should not reset your WRT120n wireless router unless you are having difficulties with the unit. The WRT120n user guide also recommends applying other troubleshooting options before attempting to reset the device. Resetting the WRT120n restores the router back to factory defaults. After resetting the Linksys 120n, you''ll have to reconfigure the router back to your preferred settings. Locate the Reset button on the back panel of the WRT120n. The button is labeled "Reset" and situated between the power port and the "1" Ethernet port. Press and hold down the "Reset" button for five seconds. The device resets. Open a Web browser on your computer. Type "192.168.1.1" into the browser's address field, then press "Enter" on your keyboard. A login prompt opens. Enter "admin" as the password. Leave the User Name field blank, then click "OK" to log in to your router and access your network settings.

How can i block intruder?

If the Wireless device isn't secured, Secure it. Set up a SSID and Security Key(password). If it is secured, change the Security Key(password), Use the Linksys Setup Manual found here: http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT120N Always Secure your Wireless. If unsecure your signal, at best, COULD be use by anyone to connect to the web using your resources and slowing down your activity. At worst, use your signal for nefarious purposes causing you a great deal of Pain and Heartache, and MAYBE the FBI knocking at your door.

Tim - You may try resetting router to factory default if you are not able to login to your router. Follow the steps below.1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.2) Disconnect all wires from the router.3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).5) Power down the router.6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.

Can i hook up wrt120n to laptop without hooking up to cable modem to fix?

Try this: Unplug EVERYTHING(related to both the router and modem). BEFORE you plug in power to anything, connect all of your ethernet. So, first ethernet goes from modem to router. Make sure they are in their proper places. Next, take another ethernet cable and attach that from modem to computer. NOW, power everything up. Google the linksys router splash page login. Im sure it'll be something like: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or something along those lines. From there, you should be able to set up your wireless. Once thats all good, unplug just your computer and everything should be fine. If that doesn't work, its either time for a new router or you're having wifi card issues.

Cannot connect to Wireless with my Linksys WRT120N Router.

If you have 2 devices not be able to connect to it suddenly, then it is probably the router that changed, as opposed to it being the 2 devices changing at the same time. Sometimes wireless routers just go bad like that.Try a factory reset, and then set the appropriate settings back to where you need them. If that doesn't help, you likely need a new one.
