I have lost my wireless connection for my laptop

If at any time you pressed the reset button on the router, it resets it to the factory, out of the box, settings. Have you tried logging back into the router just like when you first set up the laptop and kindle? you may have to start from scratch or log into the router to check what is connected via numbers.

I have a N wireless Belkin router model F5D8236-4

I suggest you check two things. 1.) Is your router operating only in "N" mode? 2.) The type of security your router is running maybe something that doesn't work with Kindles.
I looked up the spec on the Kindle. - (Check your router and confirm your using these settings). Supports public and private Wi-Fi networks or hotspots that use the 802.11b, 802.11g, or 802.11n (in b or g compatibility mode) standard with support for WEP, WPA and WPA2 security using password authentication; does not connect to WPA and WPA2 secured networks using 802.1X authentication methods; does not support connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks.
If your router is setup with these setting you could try turning off your security on the wireless function of the router just for a test. If the Kindle works without any security then you know that your mode/speed b/g/n is not the problem and you need to setup security differently on your router. If you can try the kindle some with free internet. McDonalds, coffees shop, library, etc. That would confirm the trouble is only at home or with the Kindle.... good luck Kindles are great, hope you get to enjoy it soon. P>S> maybe take it into staples or best buy and asked there tech to check it out.

DHCP Problems

Routers have a built in DHCP server to identify each computer connecting to it so traffic can be routed to the correct computer, if more than 1 computer/device shares the same IP you should get an IP conflict not a DHCP error. Routers also normally give out IP addresses from its pool of IP's sequentially and assigns it to expire in 24 hours, so if you reboot your router turn on 1 device grab an IP and then turn that device off, reboot your router and turn a different device on it will get the same IP, now when you turn the other device back on you have a conflict. If your router has been reset you have to release and renew IP addresses on all your devices to prevent conflicts.

Wireless not working

To reset the Belkin back to the default settings - Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router and then power for at least 15 secs. Then release the RESET button. Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1 The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password. You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. My Belkin F5D8236-4 v3 Router

Try resetting the router. There should be a little hole somewhere on it with a button inside that you can press with a paperclip. Try holding that button down while you unplug then plug the router in while holding it (if possible). If that doesn't work, I'd suspect the storm might've damaged the router somehow. Was it plugged into a surge protector, and/or have you noticed any other issues with anything else that was turned on at the time?

I'm trying to figure out

The routers can come with a pw on them from the factory but unlikely in most cases. To get the pw from a router is easy unless somebody changed the login information. On a pc that is connected to the network enter into the address bar of you browser 192.168.2.1 this will take you the router login page. The login requires no password just click login. Under the wireless section select security the key should be shown here. If the is blanked or stars you can just create a new one at this point.

Security lock is on router how do i take it off

Your wireless network must be secured. You can find the wireless security key from the router and get it connected. Or you can simply disable the wireless security on the network. For this you need to open the setup page of the router and change the wireless settings. See How to open the setup page of the router.

The wireless light will not come on belkin router

Try pulling the power cable for 15 seconds on the modem, then plug it back up and then wait for all of the lights to come back on. Then pull the power cable on the router for 15 seconds, plug it back up. Also you have a reset switch on the back of the router that may help if the power cycling doesn't work. Hope this helps fix your problem-good luck...
