How do I find my wpa2 key on D-Link DIR-655?
- If Donna's method didn't work you can try this. Just an additional thing.
- First of all you have to Open your Browser
- Type http://192.168.0.1 (or use the NetBIOS name http://dlinkrouter)
- In the router setup page click on wireless settings
then click on Wireless Security. It has to be there. Check under the Advanced Tab if its not there. You will be able to Enable/Disable WPA/WPA2 with PSK. Check whether you can see it there (the Key).
- If it allows you to re configure you have to go through the Setup partially again (look below). If it doesn't allow and you can't remember the key, you have to Reset the Router and go through the Full Setup.
- Here is how:
- Under the Wireless settings Wizard, Click on "Launch Wireless Security Setup Wizard".
- Click "Next".
- Enter the SSID which is the Name of your Wireless Network (Case Sensitive).
- Choose the Level of Security. Click "Next".
- If you have chosen "Best" or "Better", enter a key which is 8-63 long. If you selected "Good", enter 13 Characters or 26 HEX Digits. Please Write it down.
- Click Next. If you have chosen "Best" or "Better" you will be shown the key in the next Window.
- If you plan to use WPA-PSK encryption, you can configure that as well.
- Next to Security Mode, select WPA-Personal.
-
- Next to WPA Mode, select Auto, WPA2 Only, or WPA Only. Use Auto if you have wireless clients using both WPA and WPA2.
- Next to Group Key Update Interval, enter the amount of time before the group key used for broadcast and multicast data is changed (3600 is default).
- Next to Pre-Shared Key, enter a key (passphrase). The key is entered as a pass-phrase in ASCII format at both ends of the wireless connection. The pass-phrase must be between 8-63 characters.
- Click Save Settings to save your settings. If you are configuring the router with a wireless adapter, you will lose connectivity until you enable WPA-PSK on your adapter and enter the same passphrase as you did on the router.

I changed my cable modem and now my router wont
With an always-on, high-speed Internet connection like DSL
(Digital Subscriber Line), a router is a prudent addition to your local
network.
It filters out unauthorized access to your network, which
prevents an intruder from accessing computers that are connected to that
network.
However, getting your computers, routers and modems on the
same page may not work right "out of the box."
There are a few things you must be aware of, especially if
this is a wireless network.
Unplug your DSL modem and D-Link router.
In order for the network to properly recognize its devices,
these devices must be attached in a specific order.
Plug in your DSL modem's power cord.
There is usually no power button on a modem.
Simply plugging in its electrical cable will turn it on.
Give your DSL modem a couple minutes to re-establish its
connection to AT&T's network before taking any further action.
Plug in your D-Link router's power cord.
Like the DSL modem, this router will probably not have a
power switch; simply plug in the power cable, and it turns on.
Let the D-Link router sit for a couple minutes while it
establishes its connection to the DSL modem and AT&T's network.
Physically attach your computer to the router with an Ethernet
cable.
Even if the router and modem are wireless, a physical
connection must be established to properly configure the router.
If this is not a wireless network, then your setup procedure
is essentially complete.
To access a D-Link router on your network, open an Internet
browser and navigate to the 192.168.0.1 address.
This will bring you to your D-Link router's interface.
The default User Name is "admin" (without the
quotes), and there is no password.
Enter the User Name
and click the "Log In" button. This will bring you to the Setup
window.
Refer to your D-Link router's documentation for changing the
default password (highly recommended) and forwarding ports.
If this is a wireless network, you have a couple further
steps.
First, change your network's SSID (Service Set Identifier)
title, so that you can recognize it when other wireless networks are nearby.
Also, choose your wireless encryption and passphrase. WPA2
(Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) is a solid option.
Specific instructions depend on your model of D-Link router;
so refer to your documentation (which can usually be found at the
manufacturer's website if you do not have it on hand).
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer.
Your new wireless network should be visible with your
computer's wireless adapter.
Windows and OS X will notify you of networks in range when
your adapter is active.
Connect to the one with your SSID, and enter the passphrase.

How to check who is on your router
Open a web browser and connect to your router by typing in
its URL. The basic URL set for many routers is either
http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.0.1/. The URL for your router
should be its IP address. If you are unsure what yours is, do the
following: click "Start," then "Run." Type "Command" and then press
"OK." In the DOS pop-up, type "ipconfig," and then press "Enter." This
will give you a list of information about your internet connection; the
IP address listed under "Default Gateway" should be the IP address for
your router.
Enter your router user name and password to log into your
router. Entering the router's IP address into a browser will bring up a
pop-up requesting this information.
Search through the administrative tools and menus that your
router offers, for a list or table of DHCP clients or of attached,
connected, or active devices or computers. Different routers have
different administrative options, so menu labeling will vary, but there
should be a place to find a list of devices and IP addresses currently
using the network. For example, users of the popular Linksys WRT54GL
router can click "Status," then on the "Local Network" sub menu, and
finally click on "DHCP Clients table" to bring up a list of attached
devices.

I have a 655 router..
You can reset both the modem and the router by removing the power cord where it connects into the router (Called Recycling the Power) I would do it with both the modem and the router for about a full 2 minutes.
Sounds more like you have a connectivity issue from interference from something on you desk. Some known culprits are:
High Intensity Lamps
Fans
Radio Interference coming from your wireless phone
Power strip with filters for telephone signal
any other environmental issues including computer monitor.
Next door neighbor's router signal bleeding through.
Filter device missing from phone
Filter device missing from phone line connected to you TV
Try moving the router back to the old location. Does problem go away. You are now too close to something thats breaking your signal. I can log into my neighbors access point across the street and two houses away. Signals are strong but can be blocked by a lot of things mentioned above or tin foil.
Check it out,
TF
