I have a samsung external dvdw drive SE-S084C/RSBN

Samsung External Slim DVD-W USB Compatible with Mac and PC (SE-S084C/RSBN Burner) automatically upgrades the latest firmware version through internet.

Here is the samsung Official Product Support link. Firmware is available only only for Windows. Therefore i recommend that you connect you external drive with any other system with windows operating system and upgrade the firmware. Moreover, User's Manual and other related information and details are also available.

Also, try using CD/DVD ROM Cleaner because there may be some dust inside the drive that may prevent it from reading the disks.

Good Luck!
Hope this helps!

When CD Inserted the port gets disconnected and

are you using a single usb connection? Unless you have power plugged into the unit you probably need a dual usb cable (two usb connect to pc (or mac) and one connects to the cd player. Most usb ports do not provide enough power for a cd player plugged into one port.
Hope that works for you I’m happy to help further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/thomas_b83e841f114394f4

I have a new samsung

This seems to have to do with the speed of the burn.. see below posts.
Try using DVD-R (4 x or slower).

Anyway it seems Apple knows about it and if it is internal they replace the HDD/DVD?

I havn't figured out yet. Usually with any burn error in iTUnes you try these 3 things to fix it.

1) Goto the PC makers site and manually look for updates to your model of PC, Especailly BIOs and chipset/IDE controller updates. Also Firmware updates to the CD ROM IF it came with your PC when you bought it. Usually best to install all the updates they offer that apply to your system.

2) Slow the burn speed in iTUnes from "Max" to something like 8x or 4x. You do this by going to edit>preferences>advanced tab>general sub tab.

3) Try a different brand of blank CDs. Its a lil "Dirty" secret, but not all CD Drives are completely compatible with all blank CDs. This is due to the way there made, some companies use slightly different material in there CDs which affect the laser inside the burning drive sometimes.

Also you can goto Help>Run CD Diagnostic in iTUnes and copy/paste the report here (So we can help you) and to apple here (So they can overlook it and hopfully fix it in a future update to itunes)http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/windows/cddiagnostics/

In regards to having trouble burning please let me know exactly problems/errors you are having.

Things to keep in mind when having trouble burning is what is the max speed your drive can burn at and the type of disks the drive supports. Note even though the disk states that it can be burned at a certain speeds. So as a test I would set the burn speed to the lowest to see if you can get a good burn.

Let me know how things go

Samsung se-s084c and mac os x 10.5.8

Similar problem except worse. Can't even burn anything. Furthermore, disks inserted in the drive are not appearing on the desktop or anywhere. The drive appears in disk utility. It also seems to cause a host of other problems, various burning applications are CRASHING and not even responding to force quit (haven't tried to kill from terminal yet). We've had to reboot several times.

So far experience is awful. Going to return this if it computer keeps crashing everytime the drive is plugged in.

How do I Copy a Movie (DVD) to a blank DVD?

Unless the movie is allowed to be copied, most movies contain encryption to prevent copying due to the act being illegal.

if you are able to copy the move and it is free to do so, you can use any number of ways. One program you can try free to copy disc to disc is ImgBurn

www.imgburn.com

this is a free cd/dvd writer software for Windows based computers. This shoudl do what you want. if you want more elaborate you can use Nero Burning Rom from www.ahead.com but that is only trial unless you buy it.

good luck

How do i increase my dvd rw drive speed

Not all "blank" disks are alike.
Some support only '4X' or '8X' writing-speed.
So, buy blank disks that support '48X' writing-speed.

Not all DVD-writers are alike.
Some support only '4X' or '8X' writing-speed.
Upgrade to a DVD-writer that supports '16X' or '32X' writing-speed.

Not all USB ports are alike.
USB 1.1 ports support 11Mbits/second,
while USB 2.0 ports are about 10 times as fast.
Check that your USB device is connected to a USB 2.0 port, not a USB 1.1 port.
