Hi Have a HP DVD1170E drive

well how can it be new? (new old stock you meant) or new to you? its at least 10 years old.. an old Desk top drive. this is all there is now, they are deleting this section now. Questions of the day.? why run a 3year old dead,OS XP? its dead, that means when you need drivers its going to be hard to impossible to find or will by found but will be full of VIRUS. upgrade to w7. (buy a retail license for it and use it) (ask how) no system stated, just a DVD # cant help much with that. To make DVD and USB work right on XP it needs SP3. service pack 3, but finding it can be hard. no stores sell it (brick) no disks marked XP with SP3 now. plug it in to a new machine, say w10 laptop or desktop if it plugs and plays that means windows still supports it. and if true may work with W7 too. then try it on w7? learn where it can work and where not. and save all this grief. https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-dvd1100-dvd-writer-series/3980001/model/3980006/more-options

How do u use use lightscribe

Use the CD/DVD label maker program your burner should come with (or some other one). Create the CD/DVD label however you want, just don't be too extravagant... it may not come out very nice. Put your lightscribe CD/DVD media label-side down (upside down) into the tray and print away. Then you wait, wait, wait, and wait some more. Afterwards, you'll probably want to actually put some data on that disc.

You probably have a "pcoffin.sys and/or "pcoffin.dll" system file on the PC. It is a driver used by a number different DVD programs. I would not delete them at this point.

This is a link to some freeware software. You can try to see if you can burn a CD/DVD using this instead of the software giving you the driver error. There are tutorials on the site.
