I have a Dell Studio XPS desktop -- Network Card question
Hi,
First of all reset internet explorer.
To do this right click on IE and select properties from the list. Select the Advanced tab and click on Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your browser.
Open a web page to see if you get a decent connection. If your still having problems perform a speed test of your internet connection and compare the results to the speed your ISP says your supposed to be getting.
Perform a speed test here >>>>
http://www.speedtest.net
Click on your nearest server to perform the test. If your internet speed is below 1MBPS (one megabit per second) then that will be the reason you cannot connect to certain webpages. If you getting a network timeout message then the server is taking too long to respond.
Your ISP is responsible for the bandwidth so you will have to take it up with them.
If it was a problem with your network drivers you will get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" so i doubt it's that.
One way to check is right click on Computer or My Computer, select Manage from the list. When the window pops up select Device Manager and look down the list for Network Adapters.
Now i don't know whether you use wireless or a wired connection but if you click on the + icon next to Network Adapters to expand the list. All you have to do is right click on the LAN or wireless adapters and select uninstall (uninstall both if you have to)
Restart your computer and let the operating system detect and install the drivers. When it's done try your internet connection again.
Regards.
"operation system not fount" after pressing the start button
Turn it off. Symptoms suggest hard drive failure. Use of s taking a physical battering. This may damage data beyond recovery. The drive Take it to a shop. Your other choice: Oddly, freezing the hard drive sometimess temporaily fixes the drive long enough to recover data. Replacement of the hard drive is the likely fix. Unless you want to try to freeze the HD and copy data off of it quickly, only a shop specializing in data recovery might recover such. Hopefully youhave backed up data to another drive. You might want to consider a new laptop, after you eye the possible cost of repair and/or data recovery.
Studio XPS 9100 - I cannot access the internet from this computer consistently and shutting down takes 25 minutes
Always include the version of Windows in your posts.
Could have been a RAM problem if you got 4 beeps and you seem to have resolved that by reseating the modules. But the RAM error may have caused some corruption to a file on the hard drive.
Assuming the diagnostics pass, you can reboot and press F8 before Windows starts to load. Select Last Known Good. If that gets you to the desktop without errors, shut down normally and reboot normally, and you should be good to go.
You may also want to run chkdsk on the hard drive:
Click: Start>run
Type in: chkdsk C:
Click OK
Accept the offer to run chkdsk at next boot and then reboot. chkdsk will run before Windows loads. It may take a long time, depending on size of your hard drive, so be patient.

Can you specify WHEN and perhaps what was on the screen? What were you doing when the problem started?
Can I charge my PP39L laptop with a USB cable?
the only thing to be aware of is the voltage cannot exceed that required for the laptop . for example if the solar panel puts out 12 volts you will need an adaptor before the usb connection to reduce the power to the voltage for the laptop
Device cannot start code 10
Generally, a code 10 says that the driver was not loaded, which could be the driver is missing or corrupted .
Go to the Dell download center and download the driver for your profire device.
It could be on a driver CD that came with the computer Too
Hi my 17" dell laptop model no:pp31l has stopped working it just says bootmgr is missing
This could be due to a CD or DVD left inside the DVD drive. The laptop may be trying to boot from that instead of the hard disk. Make sure no USB flash drives or CD/DVDs are left connected/inserted. If the laptop is trying to boot from the hard disk then the files on the hard disk may be corrupted. This is hard to correct without risking loss of your data. Try running the diagnostics by pressing the 'Fn' key (keep it pressed) and press the power button to turn the laptop on. You should be able to access the diagnostics from there.
