Hi there i got the red secrity light on an the fan

GPS SYSTEMS HAVE A TENDENCY TO LOSE CONNECTIVITY TO SATILLITES BECAUSE OF BAD WEATHER, CLOUD COVER, TUNNEL ENTRANCE, BAD OR NO POWER, BATTERY LIFE HAS BEEN EXPENDED, HAZARD OF ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE TO GPS SYSTEMS, AND IMPROPER VEHICLE MOUNTING AND HAND HELD POSITION. FREE SOLUTIONS 1. ALWAYS PLACE YOUR GPS DEVICE IN THE UPPERMOST PORTION OF YOUR VEHICLE SO THAT THE GPS SIGNAL MAY EASILY LOCATE YOUR DEVICE EVEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS BAD 2. KEEP YOUR BATTERY CHARGED ONLY WHEN IT NEEDS IT MOST AND AVOID CHARGING OFTEN 3. IF YOU OVERCHARGE YOUR GPS DEVICE, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE BATTERY LEAKAGE, WHICH CAN EAT AWAY AT YOUR CLOTHING, DESTROY YOUR DEVICE IN SECONDS, AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR VEHICLE SEATS 4. YOUR GPS DEVICE HAS A TENDENCY TO FREEZE BECAUSE OF THE SIM AND MEMORY CHIPS LOCATED WITHIN IT 5. YOU CAN FIX THE FREEZING PROBLEM BY REMOVING THE SIM CHIP AND MEMORY CHIP AND RESTARTING YOUR SYSTEM 6. OTHER FREEZE PROBLEMS OCCUR BECAUSE THE DEVICE IS COLD WHEN IT IS KEPT IN THE VEHICLE AND CHIP CREEK OCCURS WHERE THE DEVICES MICROCHIPS BECOME LOOSE AND TIGHTEND BECAUSE OF WARM AND COLDER AIR FLUCTUATIONS. IT IS BEST TO KEEP THE DEVICE IN A PURSE OR ON A TABLE WHERE IT IS NOT SUBJECT TO CONSTANT TEMP. CHANGE 7. PREVENTION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE IS BEST SOLVED BY: interference from devices located nearby, and even a radio turned on and located really close to your unit. This is normally known as electromagnetic interference to electronics and is very common

In most cases all you need to do is call your local Toyota dealership. You will need to provide them with the Vin number which can be seen through the window on the driver side of your vehicle. They may need you to drive to them so that they may set it up for you.

All sources fade in and out of my kenwood dnx

NO I dont think so. Fading is usually caused by the light sensor. This can be set up to work from menu and takes the form of Auto adjust brightness Y/N

The sensor is faulty, so try unticking this feature. I guess it does not do it at night?

Hi - Navigation screen stays

First go to the following website:

https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downloadsUpdates.jsp?product=010-00752-00

You will download the latest Garmin software from this page. Save this to your computer. Then go to the following website:

http://www.kenwood.ca/Support/Car_Entertainment/Software/Garmin320/

This will give you the rundown on what to do to load the updated software into your Kenwood unit. As you can see from the screenshots you'll be able to do the update even if you cannot see the screen. As noted at the bottom right of the page you may end up having to take the steps 2 or 3 times before the update finally takes. If, after trying 2 or 3 times, you are still having issues you may have to take the unit back to where you purchased it to have them do some warranty work.

I just installed a kenwood dnx7140. Everything is

Have you checked to see if the sub amp is turning on. Check to make sure you have at least 12 volts on your power as well as your remote turn on (Blue/White on radio harness).
If everything is hooked up correctly, it is possible that the preout is turned off. Some headunits have selectable preouts. If so you should be able to turn the sub on and off in the menu.
Hope this helps

Trying to update a kenwood dnx 7140 but it dosent

had this problem myself today. did you stick the cd in with a copy of the update files? If you did and that still didnt let you choose upgrade then its probably becuase you have used windows explorer to burn the cd. you need to use nero or roxio or any other after market software. Microsoft has some sort of "copyright protection on their burning software. No idea why they would need to do that besides to annoy the whole universe!

I own the Kenwood DNX7140 navigation system.

You need to update your software. Garmin does this through a downloaded file you burn to a CD. You then do a firmware update to the Kenwood from the CD. Instuctions are on-line at:
