Try the following, if that does not work, try a dvd "head" cleaner, if not then it needs to be repaired/or replaced, also make sure that the dvds you are playing is correct format...

The device does not play.

Ensure that a supported disc is loaded in the player label-side up.

Ensure that the disc's region code matches the player's region code.

Ensure that the disc's rating level does not exceed the player's.

Ensure that the disc is not damaged or too dirty. Clean the disc or try another disc.

Moisture may have condensed inside the player. Remove the disc and leave the player on for
1-2 hours and then try again.

There are two different methods for attaching the DVD to a TV.<br>If the TV has the red and white audio jacks and the yellow video jack, then you just plug them in and then set your TV to use the alternate video input.&nbsp; There should be a button to cycle through the video choices on the remote or menu.<br><br>If you do not have any alternate audio and video jacks on the TV, only then do you need to buy an RF modulator and plug that into the antenna in of the TV, and select channel 3 or 4.<br><br>Here is a better description, with diagrams:<br><br>http://trutech.supportsync.com/article.aspx?id=1005<br><br>

Hi,

You could have a problem with this one, Tru Tech is made by Target who use OEM vendors to make their products so it could be anything inside of your machine, universal remotes don't generally work as a result. If your remote has a seek function then you could try that but don't be dissapointed if that doesn't work either you could try the following manufacturer's codes: Goldstar, LG, Funai they all build products for Target or perhaps Philips as they make a lot of DVD drives for other people. You could try this link http://www.1800customersupport.com this will take you to a site that covers a number of brands but I don't have the time to check this site out to see if it will cover your machine. Sorry I can't help more, Regards, James

There are a lot of reasons why that could happen. Sometimes when a DVD player needs to be cleaned it won't read a disk.Sometimes when you try to play a NTSC disk on a PAL DVD player or visa versa it won't play. Region coding could be another issue. And sometime home burned DVDs won't play in certain players.

Hi I have encountered this problem with some DVD players in the past - Look in the menu settings to see which format it is playing the disks in (PAL or NTSC) whichever it is using try setting it to the other one, it sometimes cures this problem! Regards, acbva.

Is the problem on ALL discs?

Then its a dirty or mis-aligned Laser, or a faulty internal tray limit switch.
It will need service by a repair tech as there are specific templates to use when aligning lasers to the surface.
You can try cleaning the laser lense with a q-tip and 100% isopropyl alcohol.
A Cleaning and alignment would run under $50 at an electronics repair shop (depending on your area of the country)

If the error comes up on only a specific disc - the disc is scratched or dirty, needs to be cleaned, is the wrong REGION (NTSC or PAL) or is not in a format the player can read.

Thanks for using FixYa - Please accept this answer to clear it from the work queue.

KM,

You'll need to check the region code of your player.

Make sure you have no discs in the player, and unplug the unit.
Plug it in and turn it on.
Open, then close the tray (with no disc!)
Press the Setup button, then select Load Setup
Press the Enter
While it it loading, press Menu.
When the box appears with a number, confirm it says 1 (region code 1 = USA). If it doesn't, please change it to 1 using the Up / Down buttons.
Press Enter to accept the change.

Yes, you need a digital (ATSC) to analog (NTSC) OTA converter box to get local over-the-air channels. This TV only has an NTSC tuner included.

I hope this helps.
