Philips DVP3962 DVD Player Questions & Answers
It's says no dics
The problem is in the laser pickup, try using a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol and gently clean the lens, allow several minutes to dry, no change! far cheaper to replace the player.
Dvd will not load
HelloIf the power supply is OK, and there is display and all others, the fault will be due to a loose loading belt, or defective loading mechanism. It will be best to replace the loading mechanism rather than try to repair it; provided power supply is OK.
Looking for updated software current software
This product was most recently updated in 2008, so I am guessing you have the most recent version of the software already. Just in case though, go to
Philips product site to download and install the most up-to-date version of the software. You will find a PDF file that will walk you through the steps. They include downloading the file, burning it to a CD and inserting it into the DVD player.
Once you start upgrading the DVD player, DO NOT TURN IT OFF or unplug it until the process is complete. If you do, you will break your DVD player.
Hope this helps!
The DVD gets stuck inside
Open up the dvd player (first unplug) by loosening screws on side and back take out disk and clean round spindle the disk is sticking too.
I have a PHILIPS DVP3962.
Resume function is wiped from the player's memory buffer whenever the unit is switched to standby (either with the [POWER] button on the main unit, the remote or turned off at the wall), the disc is removed, or the [STOP] button is pressed twice (either on the front or via the remote).
(The simplest thing you can try is to insert a DVD, play a few minutes of its main title, press [STOP] once, not twice, leave it for 10 minutes, then press [PLAY] - it should resume, and thus continue your movie from where you left off)
Resume is considered 'temporary memory' in DVD devices, and therefore is not intended to store the playback point of the disc permanently whenever power is lost, [STOP] is pressed twice or discs are ejected.
However, this is relatively normal, and is not a fault, but it can be annoying to the user.
My bf hit lock dvd and dont have a password. never
As long as no password was actually entered, then access the general set up menu using your remote. There is a Disc Unlock option--choose it. If it does not allow you to access it--it is greyed out, for example, then exit the menu, and try to play a DVD. When it asks you for the password, try 136900. If that universal password is accepted, then again access the general setup menu, and choose the Disc Unlock option.
Hope this helps!!
It's stuck on disc lock
Try using 136900. If this password works for you, then using your remote, access the general setup menu and choose the Disc Unlock option (which if you tried accessing it before, was greyed out.)
Hope this helps!
