Philips DVD player Model: DVP5992 Fixing the orange screen
<span>How to fix the orange screen back to normal!</span><br /><br />The other day i turned on my Philips DVD player model number: DVP5992 and the screen was orange red, instead of blue/grayish! I have tried to google the problem, but no luck. So what i did is, i disconnected the power cord and the HDMI cable and waited for like 30 min. After 30 min i plugged it back in and my screen went back to normal, being blue and gray!<br />If you have this problem, do this, and your screen will turn back to normal.<br /><br />Also if you want multi-regional code to play all regions DVD's, do this:<br /><br />
press Setup
<br />select the Preference Tab
(4th setting to the right)<br />keep that tab open and Press 1,3,8,9,3,1 <br />Press up/down on remote key to select "0"
<br />and hit "OK" then hit setup to exit.
<br /><br />good luck and enjoy!<br />Naztech<br />
How do i change my region code back?
There are three options you can try: 1. download the DVD drive's firmware from the manufacturer and re-flash the drive's firmware, this will reset any region code in 99% of all DVD drives. http://www.ehow.com/how_2316521_flash-dv? 2. you can use software that, in realtime as you play the videos back, removes region code out of the file transfer stream from DVD to playback software. The best software to do this that I know of is called "AnyDVD". http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html 3. use region free DVD playback software like VLC, which is freeware. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ The first option is the riskiest, if something fails while flashing the firmware, it could disable the drive, but it is 100% FREE. The second option involves buying software and making sure its running before watching any DVD's in the future. The third option is probably the safest, cheapest, and simplest for you. The DVD drive is not going to prevent playback of a region 1 or 2 movie if its set to region 4, its the playback software that makes this decision. If you rely on commercial DVD playback software or Windows Media Player, they will not allow the playback. VLC is region free, it doesn't even check the region the DVD was produced for.

Wrong region
HELLO!
On the face of this problem it sounds like the machine is set to a region other than the discs you're trying to play. Here is something that might just help you.
To multi-region your machine:
press Setup
select the Preference Tab
Press 1,3,8,9,3,1
Press up/down key to select "0"
and press menu to exit.
This way you are telling the machine to look for ALL regions. I hope this is the answer for you.
ALL THE BEST!

I have Philips TV mode
I'm assuming that you have checked that the sound is not muted. To confirm that a reset to factory settings is the next procedure: Menu - Setup - General - Factory settings. If you don't see/hear any modifications then it's a hardware defect, not something with the settings.
This happens when the tv thinks that the headphones are used. Simple test to confirm that: plug in a pair of speakers and see if you get the sound on them. If you get and the situation doesn't changes when you unplug them then this is a mechanical defect: the small switch inside the headphone jack is faulty and keeps signaling that the headphones are plugged in when they are not.
The only way to fix that is to replace the jack, which involves a very delicate soldering procedure , one that only a good repairman can do - you must call one.

In order to pair your RMT-D197A remote to your Philips TV, follow these steps: 1. Power on the TV with the remote. 2. Press and hold the Setup button on the remote until the red LED light blinks twice. 3. Input the four-digit code that corresponds to your brand of TV on the remote. This should be found on the enclosed code list. 4. Release the Setup button. If the code is correct, the red LED light will blink twice. 5. Aim the remote at the TV and press the Volume Up button. If the TV responds, the remote is paired correctly.
