Had a power outage and when the power came back i

Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. If you are still having this issue there are a couple things you can try if you have not. First, unplug the receiver from the power outlet it is connected to, leave it unplugged for about 20 seconds, then plug it back in. Your receiver goes through a rebooting process which takes about 5 minutes. Another thing to check is making sure that all of the "satellite in" connections are hand tight from the back of the receiver to the wall. The next thing to try is a check switch test. To do a check switch test, you press menu on your DISH remote, then press the numbers 6-1-1, (system setup-installation-point dish) you should be on the point dish screen. Go up and select "check switch" on the right-hand side, on the installation summary, select "test" at the bottom. The receiver will do some tests, if you get a warning 836 at the end, select "cancel" on the warning. Cancel out of all the menus and once again you will let your receiver reacquire the signal, and see if the problem persists. If problems do continue, a technician will be needed at the home to correct the problem. I hope this helps, but if you are still having this issue, please email me at [email protected] so we can get everything back up and running.

Would you like to program the Universal Remote that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume of your receiver, tuner, or stereo instead of your TV's volume?

e818a57.jpg

The first step in using the Universal Remote Control that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume level of your receiver, tuner, or stereo is to program the remote to control your audio device using the AUX mode button.

Once your remote controls your audio device in AUX mode, you probably want to continue to control the volume of your stereo even if the remote is in SAT, TV or VCR mode.

To setup your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the AUX button until all the mode buttons are lit, and then let it go.
  2. Press the POUND (#) button.
  3. Press the PLUS side of the VOLUME button.
  4. Press 0.
  5. Press the POUND (#) button. The AUX button flashes three times to tell you the programming is complete.
  6. Confirm the VOLUME buttons are operating the tuner/amplifier's volume control by pressing SAT or TV, and then adjusting the volume. Your tuner/amplifier's volume should change rather than your TV's volume.

Your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote is now setup to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in

I hope that helps.

Would you like to autoscan program the Universal Remote that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control your TV, VCR, receiver, or stereo?

e818a57.jpg

To auto-program device codes into your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote by searching for the code, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the device you would like to control on.
  2. Press and hold the mode (TV, VCR, or AUX) button until all the other buttons light up, and then let go. The mode button will flash.
  3. FOR AUX MODE ONLY - Press 0 for a 2nd TV, 1 for a 2nd VCR, or 2 for a receiver, amplifier or tuner. Then press the STAR (*) button.
  4. Press POWER to put your remote into scan mode.
  5. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW repeatedly until your device turns off. Each arrow press tries the next code your remote knows for your selected device type. When your device turns off, you have found a compatible code. When the remote runs out of codes to try, the device will flash rapidly eight times.
  6. Press POUND (#). The mode button will flash three times as it stores the found code.
  7. Turn the device back on and try some of the other buttons to make sure they work. If all functions work, your remote has been successfully programmed.
  8. If the code didn't work, repeat this scanning procedure to find a more compatible code. When your device turns off during your next scan, press the arrow key again until the device turns back on to signify you have found the next compatible code.
Your device's remote control codes for your TV, VCR, or receiver are now programmed into your DISH Solo DVR ViP 612 remote control.

(The other way to program your DISH Solo DVR ViP 612 remote control is to look at the tables in back of the user manual, and enter the code directly.)

I hope that helps.

There are multiple causes of this ; Line of sight issues due to moving foilage, bad lnb,bad cabling, bad ground block, barrels, or diplexers, improper network configuration, faulty receiver, or electrical issues causing the draw on the circuit the receiver is on to dop to an insufficient level. This can hold true even if there is another receiver present and working perfectly.

Need to Frequently Reset Dish Network HD VIP 612 Solo DVR.

When you bring up your guide look at the top of the screen and you will see the LIST: if this says ALL HD then press the guide button until you see ALL SUB or a menu and select ALL SUB. If your guide keeps changing by itself its possible to have remote interfence since you have a UHF remote, especially if you also see channel changes as well. Try setting the guide and go from there. If you still continue to have issues call 1-800-333-3474 for tech support for extensive troubleshooting or at dishnetwork .com/tech.

We have our timers set to record only new episodes

when you select "new episodes" it will record ALL episoded that have not been recorded already. ALL episoded will record every time the show comes on. as far as then 134 hr recording, it sounds like a manual timer error i would erase it and monitor progress to see if it does it again.

Unit keeps resetting itself

You need the unit replaced for sure but the thing to remeber is that all electronics are subject to damage from vibrations during transit from the manufacturer to the consumer therefore replacing it with another type will only open you up to the same possibility for failure as replacing the current 612. If you prefer CSC can ship you one if you request it and this will ensure that the receiver you receive came from a different lot than the original. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Why is my brand new 612 (just installed yesterday)

It could be that the ventilation ports on these receivers have different orientations and the current one is to close to the sides of the cabinet. More than likely though it is the hard drive that is faulty and that is the safer bet of the two. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

My Vip 612, when recording more than one channel

I would call for a technician to come out as it appears the receiver may have been incorrectly set up or is malfunctioning. I suspect that you have a Dish Pro LNB and are using one line into the 612 which uses DPP technology. The short of it is the two are only compatible if two lines are ran to the receiver and the seperator is eliminated. Without being there to test the system end to end it is all speculation. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

My HD VIP 612 Solo DVR keeps freezing every now

Hi! i will be more than glad to assist you in this concern, lets isolate 1st the problem, if the power of your vip 612 is connected to a power strip, unplug it from the power strip or surge protector for 1minute, then plug in, it will turn on by itself, then you will see, attention 015, let the progress finish and it will download the programming guide, then it will show the picture on the tv. granting the problem didnt exist., it means that the problem is solve, the surge protector or power strip is the one doing it to the receiver, why? sometime the power strip or surge protector does not give the 100% curreny needed by the dvr system, main job of the power strip or surge protector is to protect from power surge thats all but it does not regulate the current needed by the dvr. Lets say it freeze again, this is waht we are going to do, press the menu button on the upper left of the remote, once u see the main menu, press 6,1,1 on the remote and it will go to the point dish screen, selct check switch that is on the uppeer right of the screen, then it will go to the installation summary, select test and it will run a check switch test, it will go on testing up to 1 of 3 or 4 it depends on the sat you have on the lnbf. once its done, it should show the whole installation summary, port1-119-ok, port2-110-ok, port3-129 or 61.5, once you see it, select done and it will go to the point dish, select done and cancel all the way out, it will show you attention 015 and then it will download the programming guide, then you got the picture, observe it if the problem dont exist anymore. if the problem dont exist, then u fix the problem but granting the problem still there, you need to call 1-800-333-3474 call the tech support of dish network and inform them the problem that you are experiencing for the past few weeks and the steps that you did.. this is a dvr lost of function, dvr is bad and it needs to be replace.. if you have any query pls feel free to get in touch

Can you use your dish Network remote to control your VCR ?

If the dish network remote control is universal it may work with limited functions. If the remote control has buttons labeled cd, receiver, cable or Aux etc. it might work. The manual will tell you for sure. It will also provide you with the proper code for the component to work.
