Hi, if you wire all voice coils in parallel, you will get down to 1.5 ohms. That is the lowest you can go with these 2 subs. Just hook the amps' positive to all 4 positive speaker terminals and the amp negative to all 4 speaker negative terminals. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Is it a 2 or 4 channel amp???? Does it have a lpf (low pass filter)??? If its a four channel it prolly wont sound too great. If its a 2 channel you need to bridge sub to amp. Usually its the 2 outside terminals on the amp. Might have a diagram on the bottom of amp

It might be that you have wired it in such a way that the impedance is too low and this is tripping the amp into a fault mode. What kind of speakers do you have attached to it and how are they attached?

check the impedence of the speakers as although the wattege may be ok the speakers have to have the right resistance (impediance)

That's it. You need a stronger battery. Ideally a separate battery hooked up parallel to the original, with an upgraded alternator, and capacitor. That is pretty pricey, so if it won't work with the car running, first check wire size. The bigger the better. Bigger wires lose less voltage over distance. Try swapping out the battery for a bigger one, like the one in the car that the amp worked in. Then add capacitor.

There are several sites that sell the capacitors and mosfet chips for amps. But, I'm not sure you are going to have any luck finding the exact part for your amp. Companies change the design (as to the foreign companies that build most of them), so parts are usually hard to find. The big question you should ask is what made the plug melt in the first place. Find that out before you go replacing things. Hope this helps

their should be a blue and blue white wire on the Sony radio. cut the blue wire and then connect the car side to the blue white wire and tape off the blue wire that is on the radio side.
the blue wire only turns on when the radio is activated. the blue white wire is activated when the radio is turned on.
please rate my solution.

turn down the amps gain and radio volume to lowest.

a. disconnect the RCAs at the source end. (at the head unit)
b. connect only 1 RCA at a time to the amp. ok?/fails?
still fails? u have a short in the RCA wire. toss it.

didnt fail?
a. with radio off, connect RCA to radio while RCAs are connected to amp.
fails? you've got a dead short on radio side.

does not fail? turn on radio...fails? radio is issue. (not very likely though)

my quess is that you've left out a significant observation as the probability of a shorted radio is low and you say you swapped RCAs.

There are 2 options to solve this problem.

1. You can glue the tear. In all honesty, Elmers glue works rather well. Unfortunately, car stereo subs have an extreme workload, and it will not hold up very well. This is a better fix for speakers with less excursion.

2. Refoam kits are available online. eBay is littered with them, both for new & old w6 models. Also, www.reconingspeakers.com has some available.

  1. You can find a wiring diagram for your subwoofer and amplifier at the following website: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jXlGCwReN8E/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html
