I just purchased two noma
I have just been dealing with the same model of timer. The instructions are a bit "opaque" on this point! There's a tiny button on the right-hand side labelled with an R (for Reset). With the timer plugged in to a live wall outlet, take a ball point pen and press that in for a couple of seconds. You should hear a click and the timer should then show something on the display. You can easily set it up from there following the instructions that came with it. Cheers!

Why does my Hitachi PC-P1H keep turning on and how do I stop it
I found a manual for the Hitachi PC-P1HE which might be similar to your model. According to the manual, if the unit is turning on by itself, it could be due to a malfunctioning remote control or a timer setting. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Check if the remote control is malfunctioning by removing its batteries and see if the unit still turns on by itself.
If the unit still turns on, check if there is a timer setting that is causing it to turn on automatically. You can refer to the manual for instructions on how to disable the timer setting.
If none of these steps work, it might be best to contact your service contractor of HITACHI for further assistance
