Texas 30XIIB binomial cdf

The only known equation for the cumulative binomial distribution is the sum of the individual binomial probabilities. Some more sophisticated (and more expensive) calculators have that equation built in, but the 30xii does not. If n>30 and n*p>5 and n*(1-p)>5 then you can approximate the cumulative binomial with the normal probability function, but again the 30xii does not have that built in.

My TI-30XIIS calculator displays

I had this problem also and just fixed it. I hit 2nd key...don't hold it, (it should say 2nd in the lower left corner across from the DEG) then click the K button (also the divide key). The arrow and DEG will remain, but do not affect simple math calculations. Hope this helps!

Putting in the imaginary number problems

The 30XIIs doesn't deal with complex numbers directly. You can separate the real and imaginary parts and deal with them separately.

Screen brightness adjust key

There is no key to adjust the screen contrast on the TI 30 XII S. You can try to reset the calculator by pressing 2nd 0. It is possible that you have kept this solar-powered calculator too long in the dark. Give it some light.

How to get degree sign off

Press the DRG key then select the desired angular mode. Be aware that whatever angular mode you set, the corresponding indicator will appear on the screen. There is no way to get none of them to appear (short of taking a razor blade to the display and cutting some traces, a procedure I would NOT recommend).

30xiis decimals square root

In general you cannot. If the square root happens to be an integer (ex: SQRT (4)=2) or a rational number (SQRT(16/9)=4/3) you can convert from one form to the other, but that is the same as converting from a decimal to a fraction. However you can never convert 1.414213562 (the first 10 digits of SQRT(2)) into the radical SQRT(2). The reason is that root here is an irrational number: its decimal representation is endless and not periodic (non repeating).
