My screen is so dark
To lighten the screen, turn the calculator on, press and release the 2nd key, then press and hold the down-arrow key. If you go too far, press and release the 2nd key then press the up-arrow key.

When i turn it on
Having received no response in over five months, I assume the suggested contrast adjustment solved the problem.

When i turned on my calculator and began typing
Adjust the screen contrast. Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2nd key, then press and hold the up-arrow key until the numbers darken. If you go too far, repeat the process with the 2nd and down-arrow keys.

SCREEN DARK
Turn the calculator on. Press then release the 2ND key, then press and hold the down-arrow key until the screen lightens. If you go too far, use the 2ND and up-arrow keys to darken the screen.

Cqan i solve a binary
The TI-86 does have a binary mode. To get it to this setting press [2nd] [mode] this will bring up several settings. Use the arrows to highlight "Bin" instead of "Dec" (these settings are the sixth row down) and press enter. Then press esc to exit the settings page. This will change you calculator to use binary rules.

I've replaced all the batteries
It sounds like the calculator is broken. Well broken past the point where you can fix it by yourself. You can try contacting TI about the warranty.

Whenever I use the x-var
The calculator will do this following digits. If you want it without the space, make the implied multiplication explicit by entering it as 5*x. Alternatively, you can arrow over to the space and delete it.
By the way, if you leave the space in there, exit the y= editor, then come back to it, you'll find that the space is gone.

New batteries in my TI-86
Try adjusting the screen contrast. Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2nd key. Press and hold the down-arrow key to lighten or the up-arrow key to darken the screen.
If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we can try something else.

When i input Xmin -10,
Use the (-) key (just to the right of the decimal point key) instead of the - key to enter negative values.

Calculate the sine
Press the SIN key, type in the angle, and press ENTER. Make sure you have the proper angular mode set (degree or radian). To check (and change) the angular mode, press the MODE key and bring up the mode screen.

Ti-86 calculator screen is black how do i turn it
Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2nd key. Press and hold the down-arrow key for a couple of seconds until the screen lightens. If you go too far, repeat the process with the 2nd and up-arrow keys.
