You are probably in KBII Mode The code key with the top row key with KBII labled above it should get you out of that mode. DickyO

hammer may be loose or the hammer solonoid may be bad

Need to know the make and model of the typewriter.

I downloaded the manual from http://www.devicemanuals.com/downloadguide.php and then, following the instructions there, I removed then re-inserted the daisy wheel. This solved my problem. Perhaps it had somehow gotten out of adjustment. At least, it is something to try if you haven't tried it already.

Take3 off the correction tape and ntry it.DickyO(

If byou turn it off and on it should home itself if not remove the printwheel and check for bent spokes.DickyO

the printwheel is in incorrectly. the vertical lines are the hammer hitting between the petals of the printwheel. Remove the printwheel and resnap it in. If in correctly it should spin.

look for kb1 and kb 2 or your pitch is selected at ps instead of 10 or 12

Most likely the anchor for the lower roll spring is broken. Not a repair for the meek.DickyO

Sears T/W's usually take a spooled ribbon a general ribbon T6 should work.DickyO

W out is word out. There is another key with just corr. or an arrow with an x.DickyO

First put in a multi part form,, type if the carbons are OK then you have a ribbon problem. no0t feeding, not blifting or bjust so old it's bad.DickyO

There is a good chance that there is a broken wire in the print head wiring harness probably cheaper to replace than repair. Look on EBAYDickyO

To change the letter size you must install a different printwheel.DickyO

well, the correction ribbon is for erasing mistakes, it literally, pulls the ink off the paper, but you have to hit the correction button, the type writer will back up and pull the ink, but you would hear ait and be able to tell the diff. I think maybe you should check 1st that the ink ribbon is the 1 closest to you, and the correction ribbon is behind the ink ribbon- also make sure they are in the correct direction- ink side of the ribbon facing your paper- sticky side of the correction ribbon facing the paper- so its you, the ink ribbon and then the correction ribbon then the paper

Try replacing the ribbon cartridge

Try replacing the ribbon cartridge.

First try opening and closing the top cover. If that does not reset the print wheel to the correct characters, check and make sure the correction tape is not interfering with the wheel as it spins. If that is not the case remove the print wheel and make sure non of the spokes are bent. If they are you can try bending them back to the right position or you may have to replace it.
