"If your unit is not printing properly: 1.Ensure the ribbon cartridge has not run out of ribbon. If your ribbon appears silver or gray, install a new cartridge. 2.Ensure the black lever in the center of the carriage is pressed to therear towards the paper. If not, press it to the rear to lock the Daisy Wheel into place. 3.Reset the unit by holding down the [CODE] Key and pressing the [SHIFT]Key and the [WORD OUT] Key. 4.Release all three keys. 5.Try typing. You may have the print wheel in backwards. DickyO

There is a lever usually near the right side of the printwheel pull it towards you and lift out the wheel. DickyO

Takes standard dry lift off should be yellow spools, on has no top and the other side has a top with a little bar so you can turn. Left side goes on counter clockwise and tight side goes on cpunter clockwise, make sure matt side of tape faces the paper not towards you....

First make sure it is installed correctly as well as the ribbon. If they are not in their guides correctly, then this is common. Also, make sure you have a non-tacky correction tape or nearly non-tacky correction tape. Sure hope this helps.

Try hitting [CODE] + [RESET] at the same time to reset the cartridge. Make sure the cassette is installed correctly.. the "ear" on the cassette should always be on the upper right.

The SX 4000 is a "Daisy Wheel" printer. A plastic Wheel with the letters embossed on them spin via the input of the keyboard. I would suggest that your Daisy Wheel mhas slipped its index, presenting a offset letter., or the wheel is on inproper, but I do not see how it could happen, short of forcing it on. You may have to buy another Daisy Wheel, if that one is broken at the hub. See:
