Brother intellifax 770 No Power? LCD is blank

I have the same problem: no LCD. Determined that the outlet was fine, but the machine did not respond when unplugging/plugging it in. Support said I needed to take it in for repair. Unplugged it, unscrewed the bottom plate, and found a blown fuse on the circuit board connected to the power cord (needed to gently lift it from its cradle).

My brother intellifax 770 has a top open error. A small white clip/bracket was lying in the machine when I opened it to take a look.Won't close completely on the right side. Thanks!

When I dial a fax number I get a busy signal even

Since you mentioned that you have an outside line, do you have to use a code to dial out normally? Try plugging in a phone to the line for your fax machine, and attempt to dial the number for the other fax machine using the phone. You should reach the fax and hear a high pitched sequence of tones. This is the other fax machine trying to establish a connection. If you still get a busy signal, try calling the owner and letting them know that their fax machine is not accepting incoming calls.

My phone and fax machine are on the same phone

Two different numbers on the same line means you're paying for "distinctive ring" service. One pattern of ringing for one number and another pattern for the other number. Your fax's owner's manual has the instructions for training the machine to answer on the correct pattern. Which ink cartrage fits Brother Fax 770?

PC301 is the complete replacement cartridge. Lift out the old, drop in the new.PC302 is a box of two refill rolls to fit into the PC301. Lift out the old, lay it upside down on the table, flip a few small latches to open both sides of the cartridge. Look carefully at how the old rolls are placed in there. Lift them out and put in the new rolls the same way, except that, of course, the full roll will be on the opposite side. Snap it closed, drop it into the machine and close it up.Save the second roll for later.

Speaker phone

Yes, if you press the hook button you should hear a dial tone through the speaker.

I am assuming the fax is operational.

The supplies for your fax are expensive enough.
You could probably buy the original manual somewhere but the cost of it plus the shipping will make it an even more expensive proposition.

You can download a PDF version of it here:

and read it on your computer without the need of printing it.
The size of the file is way under 1 MB

If you prefer to have a printed version of it, just about any stationery store will do it for a few dollars.

I have a brother 770

Hi There!
One reason why you're having a black line on the copies you make and faxes that you send it's because the scanner glass inside the fax machine is dirty. Here's what you can do to resolve you're issue.
-Make sure the printer is off and unplugged from the power outlet for your safety. -Open the control panel, Prepare a dry lint free cloth and isopropyl alcohol, dampen the cloth with a small amount of alcohol. -Inside the fax machine look for a the long scanner glass clean it with the dampened cloth, using hand try to feel if there are debris or dirt and concentrate on cleaning that part. -Directly above the glass you will see a white strip clean that also with the dampened cloth
Once you're done cleaning, close the cover and plug it back in. Try to copy a blank sheet of paper and if you can still see the same line clean it again for about 3-5 times, Make sure to make a copy everytime you clean the glass.

Paper jam won't clear, but

I had this same unit and had this problem. What I found it to be was a small piece of paper was stuck down inside where the sensor is. This doesn't allow it to clear the code off of the display. I pulled the cartridge out and took my air compressor in the garage and gave is a good cleaning out. Worked fine after that.

Everytime I am sending a fax i get the common

Comm Error will show on the display if there is an issue on phoneline that were using.
First please check if the machine has a dial tone or try to call the fax # where you need to send the fax, just check if it's ringing. Second before loading the paper make sure that the display shows date & time. Then load the document in the tray the display should show enter fax # & start. Start dialing the # then hit start.

Fax gets sent but "Transmission Verification

It seems that the Fax Machines printing motor is getting clogged or performing slow, please follow the instructional manual of the Fax Machine to remove and replace the Paper. Then, clean the printing area of the Fax Machine. If the issue persists, then it might be related to Hardware of the Fax Machine. In that case, please contact the Vendor for the service.

I am having problems setting up the phone cords.

You should only need the power cord and a phone line. My Brother has 2 jacks for the phone line. One is a line in, (from the wall jack to the fax machine), the other is a line out, (for you to plug in a dial up computer connection or a second phone). Make sure you have the cable from the wall jack plugged into the line in, plug.
