can you recieve faxes okay or isit just when you send ? you should know that your fax machine will not work properly if you get any staic in your phone line, you may want to check by listening to that particular line or you may have it plugged in the wrong socket. the correct one is the one labeled " L " or line and not telephone.

There is no installation CD for this machine. The machine sends, receives and copies. The machine will not connect to a computer and does not need a CD to perform it's functions. Years ago Brother had a 770 which is the father of 775 that connected to a computer by purchasing software and a cable(PCI-1). This software is outdated and does not work well with any of the current windows programs. Most Brother ink-jet and laser products will connect to a computer via an installation CD or down loading the drivers from Brother.com. None of their thermal machines will connect to a computer.

The modem in the fax is having a problem with what is called 'handshaking', meaning its not able to sync up with each other. Try another outlet if one is available or even take it to another home or business to see. The cord from the wall to the fax could be bad also, try replacing that after you try it somewhere else.

Press the 'RECEIVE MODE' button on the right side of the control panel, its next to the large 'FAX START' button. Here are your options :

Select Receive Mode
MANUAL
—You must answer all calls yourself. If you hear fax tones, press
Fax Start
to begin receiving the fax, then hang up. You can use this mode with
Distinctive Ringing. (See
Distinctive Ring
, page 8-1.)
FAX ONLY
—The fax machine automatically answers every call as a fax call. You
cannot receive a voice call, but you can dial out and make a voice call.
FAX/TEL
—The fax machine automatically answers every call. If the call is a fax, it
prints the fax. If the call is not a fax, it signals you with a double-ring (ring-ring),
different from the phone company ringing, to alert you to pick up the call. If you select
this setting, you’ll need to set the Ring Delay and F/T Ring Time features (on the
following pages). If you have extension phones on the same line as the fax machine,
set Ring Delay to 4. (See
For FAX/TEL Mode Only
, page 5-5.)
TAD:ANSWER MACH.
—This is the only setting in which you can use an external
answering machine. Your telephone answering device is connected to your fax
machine, and answers every call. Once the TAD answers, the fax machine listens for
fax tones. If it detects fax tones, it prints the fax.
The TAD setting works
only
with an external telephone answering device (TAD); it
does not work with telephone company Voice Mail. Ring Delay and F/T Ring Time
do
not
work in this setting.

Print them out, that is the only way to delete them and free up memory.

You need to print them, that should erase them from memory.

Unplug and plug back in see if that gets rid of the check paper pls open top cover. Also make sure the confirmation is set. Transmission report on

If your brother Intelli Fax 775 says..Memory full, erase message...this is what you do. Press "menu 84" then press the fax start button. Your fax will print every fax in memory and it will clear itself. To turn off the memory so this does not happen again..Press Menu then 82, then a up or down button, so it reads "off". Then the stop/exit button, and your done.

1-change the connection between the machine and the outlet with a new one and install it firmly in the machine and the phone outlet.
2-invert the wires in the outlet.
3-put line noise filter between phone line and fax.(you can get it from radio shack).
4-if all above does not work you have to call phone company for help.

1-use air blower to clean it.
2-use dry contact cleaner to clean it.(radio shack)near to you.
3-if you have previous experience in machine open it and disassemble key pad -wash it carefuly with water and dry it and bring a tracking pen(also from radio shack and apply the pen in pads of numbers 1-2-3.

Look for languages in the set up menu.

In my experience, anything plugged up to a phone line can be some of the most susceptible to electric discharge. Thunderstorms, power surges, brown out, all of these can cripple or kill a fax machine. When I saw this symptom on a fax, 9 times out of 10 it was caused by a power surge of some sort. The line error is most likely the machine's outgoing line has been zapped. The 775 (and it's father, the 770) are some of the most straightforward faxes I have dealt with when it comes to faxing. There is no internal setting that I am aware of that would inhibit the sending of faxes. I would double check the transmission report to make sure that the machine isn't doing something weird like adding extra digits to the numbers you are dialing. It would still be worth your time to try a few things, though. I would plug the fax into another phone jack using a different phone cord if available. Also try using the fax as a telephone, call a number and see if you can connect. If you can, make sure both parties can hear each other clearly. If you can not, the machine will need to be replaced.

If you can fax to another number (this will be the best test)

Its going to be the fax machine on the other end. Either there is a problem with there fax, there line conditions (a bad line, working dosen't always mean a working fax line) or compatibility issue between the two faxes.

The only other possibility id the communications board has failed inside your machine but is unlikely if you can receive.

There is either something on your cid/ccd unit under the glass.You may have something on the glass,or there could be a sratch on the thermal print head.Inspect each unit, it is usualy something easy.

did you take out the cartridge and look inside, the papre might be under the cartridge.
