HI Shelia. THere is a button marked as "function" on your fax machine and got to "set up". Press that and select the "print out" group. When you get in there you will see "reports"... select that and it will let you get into your reports mode. Make sure you have transmission turned off. You can set it up to print out every 50 faxes...that seems to work best for most people. You may have to dig around in those menus...but its in there. I just don't have one sitting in front of my right now. If you still can't find it, email me back and I will look monday when I am back at the shop.

Printing a Fax in Memory
If you have Fax Storage ON for remote retrieval, you can still print a fax from the
memory when you are at your FAX/MFC. (See Setting Fax Storage, page 9-2.)
1 Press Menu/Set, 2, 5, 4.
2 Press Fax Start.
3 After printing is finished, press Stop/Exit.

If you would like for me to send you the manual, please send an email to [email protected] Please put "Brother2800 manual" as the subject and I will end it to you right away. Lawrence

check to make sure you have dial tone on your end

Hello,

completely black print outs indicate the drum needs to be replaced. If you are not familiar with this the drum is the part in the printer that transfers the image to the paper using the toner. It has a coating on it that reacts with the laser to produce the charged image that attracts the toner but when the coating is used or worn out it basically puts an "image" across the entire page so you get a black page. The part number you need to get is DR-250 and they are available from Office Depot or other toner supply stores.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Welcome to FixYa.

Repeating paper jams are usually caused by torn paper(s) left inside the fax machine. This usually happens if you forced the paper out on its 1st or 2nd jam.

Solution.
  • Remove the drum unit and check for small pieces of torn paper or object that disrupts the flow of the paper.
  • Reinstall the drum unit.
  • Print a test page..

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a great day.

ECM (Error Correction Mode)
The Error Correction Mode (ECM) is a way for the fax machine to check the integrity of a fax transmission while it is in progress. ECM transmissions are possible only between machines that both have the ECM feature. If they do, you may send and receive fax messages that are continuously checked for their
integrity.
Sufficient memory must be available in your FAX/MFC for this feature to work.ECM (Error Correction Mode) Detects errors during fax transmission and resends the page(s) that had an error.
If you have Call Waiting, RingMaster, Voice Mail, an answering machine, alarm system or any other
custom feature on a single phone line with your fax machine, it may create a problem sending or
receiving fax data.
For Example:
Your Brother machine handles the Caller ID and Call Waiting/Caller ID subscriber services.
However, if you subscribe to only Call Waiting or some other custom service and its signal comes
through the line while your machine is sending or receiving a fax, the signal can temporarily interrupt
or disrupt the fax data. Brother's ECM feature should help overcome this problem. This condition
is related to the telephone system industry and is common to all devices that send and receive
information on a single, shared line with custom features. If avoiding a slight interruption is crucial
to your business, a separate line with no custom features is recommended.

Try and reset the memory. Make sure you power down the machine. Make sure you are grounded also. If that doesn't work your memory went bad and needs to be replaced.

The results your machine prints sometimes are only guides as to the conditions of the line etc, etc,....if you have to know with ABSOLUTE 100% CERTAINTY that the fax was recieved at the other end then you wil l have to call them on the phone, or send them an e-mail. and ask!!!!

1. Make sure the paper feed rollers are clean, You can clean them with a soft cloth moistened with alcohol. Don't use paper towels.
2. Also make sure all the sensors inside the printer are clean and that there isn't any dust or debris on them.
3. Look for any small bits of wayward paper that may be stuck in the paper path.
