Turn the power off and try to move the needle bar back and forth horizontally. Does it move easily? No means the installation position needs adjusted so that it will move easily. The other areas that could be a problem is 1. pulse motor or wiring needing replaced. 2. PC Board needs to be replaced.

Are the feed dogs fully up and clean? With the unthreaded machine transport a piece of paper with the feed dogs? Is there a presser foot pressure adjustment? -- if so, it may need tweaking. Do you have a tangle of thread under the needle plate (= throat plate) or hook and bobbin case area? Do you have the stitch length set to greater than 0?

Take it to a sewing machine shop. You'll void the warranty by opening the case. It's such a recent machine I'd be surprised if it needed a belt so soon.

It's just a thought, but the red light will or should come on as soon as you push the bobbin winder in position to wind a bobbin. The red light should turn off when you push the bobbin winder back to the original position. I can't tell you how many times I have been dumbfounded after having done this. I hope this helps. P ;)

You don't. Opening the case voids the warranty. You can use a continuity meter to test to see if the power cord is ok; otherwise, take it in for repair.

Pull the slide plate open and watch the hook (the rotating part under the bobbin case). It should move around with no hitch.

If it does not turn, it has a broken gear. The model 457 has a vertical shaft gear that breaks and it's easy to replace.

Check the bobbin tension and that the thread is tight around the bobbin. Make sure that the bobbin is in the right way around - the bobbin thread should double back on itself coming out of the bobbin holder.
