Bernina Activa 130 - Page 6 Questions & Answers
My sewing machine was working fine until I changed
So is the stitch length now back on 2.5 for a normal straight stitch?
Or have you perhaps put it into a buttonhole sequence or something where it is sewing in the same spot.
Or have the feed dogs been disengaged accidentally, this would also mean no forward motion during stitching. Can you run it slowly, no thread, no presser foot and see if the feed dogs are going through their normal up and backwards movement to check this?
Have you got the manual to trouble shoot and find how to renegage the feed dogs if this is the cause. Sometimes it is a slide mechanicsm on the free arm or at the back of the main sewing area.

Sounds like a threading mistake. Try this, thread the machine all the way to the needle but not the eye. Then lift the presser foot up and down and pull on the tread as you do that. You should have tension when the foot is down and not tension when it is up. If this is the case try sewing(should fix), if it is not the case your machine will need adjustment.

Sounds like you machine could be out of balance. If you look on the right side of the machine there is a small hole. In there put a 10 torx screwdriver and turn. This will adjust the balance. This is a tricky thing to do, may want to take it to a bernina teck.
Before I do this I would check the decoritve stitches and see if they are odd looking aswell.
It could also be low feed dogs, feed timing, presser foot presser, syncroizer, and many other things.
Hope this helps
I got a 830 that
Check the bobbin tension and that the thread is tight around the bobbin. Make sure that the bobbin is in the right way around - the bobbin thread should double back on itself coming out of the bobbin holder.
If the problem is the top thread, adjust that tesion on the front of the machine on the upper tension control.

I know that this is not what you are asking for, but I have looked all over for the dimensions. And have not found anything. So what I am going to suggest is to call the repair shop and ask them to measure it for you. That way you will have them on the phone and tell them more accurate of where and how you wanted the measurements.
Granddaughter has just received Activa from her
It can be a number of things so we'll check them all! First make sure when you re-thread it that your presser foot is up and that the thread goes between the tension discs in the front. (Pretend you are flossing and pull the thread back and forth and then pull it out to hear the click just to be sure you have it snuggly in the tension.) Next make sure your bobbin thread is in its tension slot. (You can do the same test as the top...pull it in the slot and pull it back out to make sure you hear the click.) Put a new needle in and make sure the flat side is to the back of the machine. If you do all of this and it still doesn't pick up the bobbin thread, most likely the machine timing is off and this is a repair to be done by an authorized dealer. It can be a result of: if you hit a pin or two, run over a very thick seam or pulled your fabric too tight because it wasn't moving under your presser foot. Do you remember your needle hitting the needle plate? When this happens because of any of the above examples, it causes the hook in the bobbin case to not line up with the needle when it comes down to pick up the thread so you don't get a stitch. I would call a repair center if none of the above suggestions worked and check and see how much it would cost. It could be anywhere from $50 to $150 depending on where you live or who you go to. I'll try to answer any other questions you have. I'm here until you're satisfied! Please let me know if I can be of any more help to you and let me know how you made out. Thank you for asking for me.

Perhaps remove the bobbin case and check that you have put it back correctly. Check with the sewing machine manual to see how it is done correctly. Make sure that the top of the bobbin case is at the top of the bobbin case holder and make sure you change the needle as it will probably be dull or bent from hitting the metal of the bobbin case.
The bottom thread will bunch
Hmmm, does the thread bunch up under the fabric or in the bobbin?
Check both your tensions and if that doesn't work it could be that your machine is slightly off time and needs to be adjusted.
Activia 130
Is the Activa a lower end machine? It sounds like it might simply need a service. The only time I have experieneced a machine refusing to sew when was it was gummed up with old oil and seized. Check all points of electricity when the cables plug in. It might sound obvious, but I've been caught out before :)
I have a Bernina 130,
Usually if your bobbin thread is loopy it's because the TOP thread is not threaded right. Try threading it again with the presser foot UP and make sure to get the thread between the upper tension discs. It's just the opposite of what you would think.....if the bobbin thread is loopy, the top thread is threaded wrong, if the top thread is loopy, the bobbin is threaded wrong. Good luck!
