Bobbin thread tangling into knots on my Bernina QE 153

Its possible, refer to your machine manual to adjust the tension. You might need to change your needle to fit the thread you are using.

Where do I find an extension platform for my Bernina Vituosa 150?

I'm sure there are several people making these. They are expensive though. I would try Ebay first.

Underneath stitch bad

Sometimes even though the tension is at recommeded placement, you may find with various fabrics or threads, you have to adjust it. I would try to raise the tension just a bit. Try it a little at a time until you achieve a stitch you are happy with. If adjusting the tension does not correct the problem, double check your threading. If sure it is threaded properly, especially going through the tension assembly...check your thread. I have found that the thread you use can and often does create tension problems. Try changing the thread and see if the stitch quality improves.

When I tried to turn my Bernina Virtuosa 150 on, a light colored smoke came out of the top left side of my machine. What happened?

When you say the 'top left side' do you mean behind the takeup arm or are you talking about the handwheel end ? I assume you replaced the bulb because it had gone out ... if so, it's possible that the power supply unit ('L'-print) has gone faulty - this is on the back of the machine, but its possible that smoke has found its way to the openings around the takeup arm and foot lifter. Best thing is to have it checked-out by a Bernina service agent.

sounds like a capacitor, circuit board or something electrical has gone inside it; I'd suggest taking it to a Bernina service centre for deeper diagnosis as this is an electronic machine and more complex that a standard mechanical machine.

Location of control for feed dog Bernina Virtuosa

I assume you mean the feed dog drop button, which is a square button in the base of the machine at the right-hand (handwheel) end of the machine, about one-third of the way back. Press it once to drop the dogs, again, to allow them to come back up.

I have a Bernina Virtuosa 153 sewing machine that

You may need to increase the foot pressure to cope with the heavy denim material. Look carefully at the material as the machine tries to stitch ... if the foot is not keeping the material firmly on the stitch plate, it might be riding up on the needle (denim tends to be rather 'grippy') which will prevent the thread loop being formed correctly below the stitch-plate and therefore not getting picked-up by the CB hook. Changing to a bigger diameter needle might actually make the situation worse in this case ... go back to an 80 and try again.

How to fill a bobbin on Virtuosa 150

Put the thread spool on the vertical spool holder with a sponge pad underneath. Wind the thread off the spool and through the small wire thread guide next to the spool holder. Take the thread across the top of the sewing arm to the tension unit just next to the gap in the case through which the thread is normally threaded - the tension unit looks like the top of a shiny screw without the slots in it. Wind the thread in a clockwise direction around the tension unit once and pull the thread with a bit of tension until it slips into the sprung gap around the underside of the shiny part. Slip the end of the thread through one of the holes in the bobbin and, preferably, wind a few turns on, then push the bobbin onto the bobbin winder shaft at the right-hand end of the top of the machine. Turn the bobbin clockwise by hand a few more times to make sure the thread is 'locked' onto the bobbin and then just push the lever adjacent to the bobbin winder to the left. To wind the bobbin, you then press the foot controller and either stop when you've got enough thread on the bobbin or let it stop automatically when full. Make sure you dont go so fast that the spool rattles-around on the spool holder otherwise this could spoil the way the bobbin gets filled.

Feed dogs pushing fabric in reverse

Check that the quick reverse button is not jammed-in, first. If not, check a pattern that uses forward and backward feed, such as the honeycomb stitch and check if varying the stitch length makes any difference - if its still only feeding in a reverse direction, you're probably going to have to get it checked-out by a Bernina service agent, because this could be one of a number of problems, ranging from the simplest - the plug carrying the wiring to the stitch length stepper motor might have dropped-off the main 'S'-print control board - to the worst - the main control board might be faulty. The stepper motor could also be faulty or, indeed, there might be a jammed stitch-length mechanism in the free-arm, if it hasn't been serviced for a while. Good Luck
