You'll need to use two separate spools of thread. Machines that take a twin needle will usually have separated thread guides and two separate tension disks. Unfortunately, I think you'll need to figure out the model type somehow. I'd try a google image search for Elna sewing machines and try to find one that matches yours. Hopefully that image will have the model. That's what I had to do with my Husqvarna. Several of these machines at the link have images if you click on each one. Have you actually tried to stitch yet? Turn the flywheel towards you through a stitch sequence and they should reengage as the needle rises.

Hi Peggy,I would suggest that you check the machine's id plate on the side by the power inlet and look for a 2 digit code, this is the model number. Then check out www.sewingpartsonline.com or www.sewusa.com and see if they have the manual for sale. You probably won't find free downloads.Other option is to join the Yahoo group "Elna Heirlooms", just start at www.yahoo.com, register, then go to "Groups" and search for this name. This news group shares information on the Swiss Elnas and many of the members are very knowledgable. I've learnt so much from them and you may find what you are looking for there.
