I bought a janome 5700

try here for the manual http://www.sewingmanuals.com/

To lower the foot look for a black, square tab you would use your left hand to move up and down
If its anything like my janome 8000 and 9000 you'll have heaps of fun with it!

I have a Janome 5700,

Most sewing machine lamps are located inside the face cover on the left hand side of your machine. It should pull open as it is hinged at the back and clicks into place when you close it. The lamp will be visible to you when you open your machine. It will either need a bayonet or screw type bulb replacement. You will need to look at the broken bulb in order to see what type your machine needs.

If you look at page 4 of this manual, which is similar to your machine, you will see the face cover is part number 11. In the smaller picture below you can make out the hinge on the back of the machine that allows you to open the face cover like a door. Hope this helps!

The feed dog switch in

Try this basic torubleshooting steps for this is a common issue for Janome Memory craft. You have to switch the dog feed back to 'up' then turn the needle wheel toward you, the feed dog should snap back into place.

Is there a listing of all the Colour Codes on

I've not found one. The shank should have the size stamped on it.

Once you identify the size, make a cross-reference on paper so you can go by the color.

Schmetz needle company has a chart for choosing the right type and size of needle for the thread and fabric.

You do not need to buy Janome needles for your sewing machine.
