when the feed dogs are in the down postion the machine stay in one placewhen the feed dogs are in the up positon then the machine will sewif the machine still doesn't sew when the feed dogs are in the up position the feed dogs need to be checked to see if they need a adjustment or need to be replaced

If you have checked everything else there is probably an in line anti surge fuse in the machine but I would not advise taking the machine apart yourself

replace the screen

Either the bulb has burned out or you have accidentally turned the control to darken the screen. Look in the top where the feet are stored. You should see a half moon shaped valve on the inside edge of the top front - that is the control for the brightness/darkness control of the screen.

Go on line for janome machines as they have fault finding section that may be of a help. Otherwise take it to an authorised rep[airer and have it fixed It will be cheaper in the long run.
