You should be on straight stitch selection, use size 16 or 18 needle, apply longer stitch length(3-3.5mm), always lower down your needle using your hand wheel first, so as not to burden the motor when you started sewing your material. Hope this can be helpful.

Go to the home page
At the bottom of the page look for instruction manual--click on it
It will take you to another page
In the box put the model number (example 7700 ) & click search

On the next page click on free download!

loosen the needle screw, if you do not have a screw driver use a coin and turn it towards you to loosen, then insert your new needle, flat side facing away from you and tighten. If you do not have your manual, go to singerco.com and download one for free

Most likely the grease used has gotten hard. Take off the top and use your hair dryer to warm it up and attempt to turn back and forth. Afterwards, spray some synthetic spray in this area of your machine.
