It depends on what you are sewing. If it's boots, shoes ,saddles, purses or heavy duty stuff like that I doubt it. But you could ask the manufacturer. On the other hand if you are sewing light weight skirts etc or using pleather, its not so much the machine but the needle which should be an 18 with heavy duty thread and a longer stitch. turn the hand wheel that lever is what pulls the needle thread back up to complete the stitch it is connected directly to the needle shaft and moves in relation to the needle
