Had power surge in area

The 29385GE1 isn't an answering machine. It will continue to ring until someone or something picks up or the caller hangs up. Please repost your question, giving the make and model of your answering machine.

Corded Telephone with wall mount - no electrical

Hi, Thanks for contacting Fixya.com This is sometimes a bad luck. Try another set of batteries. You have to turn the phone upside down to put them in. I read the pamphlet and there is no setting showing that number 16 for volume up. DOUBLES as a display up.

Thank You

After installing new batteries I have lost my time

The date and time is supplied with the caller ID information from your phone service provider. When you get a call, the date and time will be set. (If you don't have caller ID, there's no way to set the date and time otherwise. I've always wondered who came up with such a silly design.)

Receiving party complains of low audio from this

There is a small electric condenser microphone in the handset where you talk, chances are the mic is defective and must be replaced. Radio Shack use to carry two or three different types, not sure if they are available. The handset will need to be dismantled and some solder work required.

I have a Voca phone

Need more info here, does the machine record a memo? Set the machine to answer mode and press the little memo button on the very rhs of the machine to start and stop recording.) This should leave a message like through the phone line. Will that play back? Lift the tape lid and see if the tape moves??? With a little more info I can help, I've been repairing those for many many years.

I have a GE CID

Hi

Just disconnect the phone from the mains for a minute and then reconnect. The old message on your answerphone is erased and replaced by the default setting message but you can record over that by pressing and holding the greeting button.

Cheers from Ireland

Ge 29385 corded phone

No need to set anything. Call that number from a different phone and it will automatically set!!!! I just found that out by accident. It would have been nice if they put that in the manual.

29385 GE Speakerphone

New batteries does not mean GOOD BATTERY.
Did you test the replacements?
There are batteries that come with a tester in the package. A small sheet of paper with a color coded bar to tell you much like a pregancy test, if the battery is good, before you leave the store.
Never use a new battery after insertion without a full 12 or more hour charge from your phone charger. The batteries are good enough to draw dial tone when new but have been setting in that package for a long time and NEED the initial rebirth charge.
Hope this helps.

GE phone answerer model 2-9876. Very much static on two incoming calls, 8 days apart. Only times in 26 years.

That will be because the static was at the callers line, not at your end. At this time of year it is water in junction boxes at the caller's residence. If it was on every call, it would be down to your connections.
