Dryer won't work. Hot water heater on opposite

It sounds like you have a short in the wiring, element, or motor of the drier.
Unplug and do not plug in until repaired. Most driers can be opened for inspection by lifting the lid. You would do this through the front door area, looking up you should see several screws which need to be removed from the underside of the lid. Once removed a putty knife needs to be slid in the sides or from corners to release a spring clip allow the lid to swing up and back. Be careful not to twist the knife as you can crack the enamel finish on the drier.
As dryers age, humidity and vibration sometimes cause shorting in the wire harness connections, or the element breaks from expansion and contraction. You are dealing with 220 volts here so unless you know what you are doing, do not attempt the repairs yourself. Look for any evidence of burned connections. if none are visible you likely have an internal short circuit, where electricity is hitting the metal of the drier which could give you a big jolt if you flip that breaker again. Call a recommended repair tech if this one is above your experience. BE SAFE

Ge dryer wont start had

More than likely if you say you had problems with the switch before than you might have a bad starting switch, but check to see if the start switch is getting power from the timer if is getting power from the timer check the "safety fuse" located in the heater area. This "safety fuse" is designed to cut power off to the motor if the dryer overheats above a "safe" level (On dryers made after January 1, 1996 in accordance with U.L. and C.P.S.C. standards). If the "safety-fuse" is good than check the "start" circut of the motor. If there IS POWER (115 volts) going into the "start" circut of the motor ,but the motor won't "run" than the motor needs to be replaced.
Plus check to see if the timer hasn't "shorted out" as well.

It makes noise during the drying cycles

There are 4 possible sources of noise:
1) Drum support assembly - Open the door and turn the drum by hand. If there is a grinding sound and it feels rough, the roller suppot bearings are suspect.
2) Belt tension assembly - Same test as 1 except if you hear the grinding sound but it feels smooth, check the tensioner roller bearings
3) Fan assembly - this can have bearing failure or get foreign objects in it. Access isusually via the back panel
4) Foreign objects - check for things like coins in the space between the front of the drum and the trim around the door opening

Dryer will not dry clothes in single cycle

Check the entire air vent system for lint obstruction. Remove the lint filter and wash in hot water and detergent--fabric softener sheets will build deposits on this screen, which restricts air flow.

My dryer is electric. During

It is very possible it could be the belt. Also, sometimes, the rubber seal around top of drum makes squeaky noises and you can lightly grease it. Otherwise the belt may need to be changed or pulley straightened

My dryer catches a piece of clothes in the drum

Hello Friend, This problem is real common in GE dryers. Your solution is simple. You need to replace the front drum bearing and glider pads. It's actually pretty simple to do. Just remove front of dryer cabinet. After removal just look at backside of dryer front around the inner door. You will see where the dryer drum has turned and wore a hole in the plastic piece above the dryer door. This piece is called the front drum bearing. Just unsnap this piece and snap in a new one. Be sure to replace the little plastic glide pads onto the top of the drum bearing before re-installing the dryer cabinet front. The front drum bearing and glider pads are sold seperately so make sure you have everything you need before you begin. This should solve your problem. Happy to help, Tim. Thanks.

Start Switch Broke

Hello Friend, Its easy to replace the start switch on your dryer. Just remove the four screws at top of control panel. You will need a start tip bit to remove the screws. Once removed just pivot the panel towards front of washer exposing the inner backside of panel. Now you can easily remove the screws that hold on the start switch and replace with new one. Happy to help, Tim. Please rate my help to you. Thanks.
