I have a cannon image class MF6540. When I try and print I get an error "out of paper". I have plently of paper. I am able to copy but not print.
I assume you are trying to print from your computer. The driver for this unit will give you an out of paper message almost any time it won't print for any reason. If the unit copies, but does not print from your computer, then it is a communication issue. Perhaps uninstall/reinstall the driver?
