It sounds as though a DLL or other executable file or settings has become corrupted either at file-data level or in the computer's registry. The best fix is to uninstall the suite, run a cleaner / optimizer such as Amigo 360 optimizer, to refresh the registry, then reboot and re-install the program from disk/s.

I have also been running into an MPEGENCODER.DLL error about 1/2 way through my 20 minute movie. I am able to Make Movie with a 6 minute version, but hitting this error time and time again. I have removed Virus protection and all unessential system tray loads; defragged drive; downloaded newest Windows drivers; downloaded newest NVIDIA drivers; running Win XP Pro SP3, Intel 3GHZ, 1GB RAM, 76GB/10K spin drive.

I had the same problem and it was a corrupt file. Delete a few of the latest files or videos you have imported and it should be fine. Worked for me.

This means the video quality settings are to high for your machine .
Reduce quality . Issue should be solved but image will be less sharp .
Best results for capturing video movies or tv programs are obtained with a stand alone DVD or Blu Ray recorder .

(test 1) then I run HDD smart test to be sure HDD is good first. takes all of 5min work, to do . that or less if loaded, now. then burns work if the dvd-r is good and the DVD drive is not bad or just optically full of lint and fails. 100% free and safe. https://www.passmark.com/products/diskcheckup/ load that, run that see NO ERROR or you will fail if does. smart tests are first if data ever ever fails. we do that. I use Imgburn (free ) to burn mine, done for over a decade never 1 bad disk made.

Not knowing what capture card you have, I can only guess that you are using the componet video input to the capture card and the composite video out of the Xbox. If the transitions just jump from A to B with no change, try this: Open the Setup menu, select Video and Audio Preferences, uncheck "Enable Hardware Acceleration" and click OK. Close and reopen Studio. Thanks to FANDOS.SP on Youtube for this fix.
