Please restart the computer and go to safe mode by tapping F8 key once the system is restarting choose Enable VGA Mode (Windows XP)
choose Enable low resolution Video (Windows Vsita / 7).

Change the display settings to slightly lesser than what the monitor can handle and shut down and restart the computer in normal mode.

I don't know what OS you have but there is a power management setting you might want to check. Most likely the monitor is set to go quickly into sleep mode at inactivity. Alternately I don't know what monitor you have but it might be a backlight Issue as well

it needs service, and service manuals are hard to find on anything by the likes of ACER. this projector worked for 12 long years, did you own it 12 or bought a bad projector, no history told as I can buy dead projectors all day long. and hard nut problems even hacking done. I would try starting up and go straight into the BIOS. Set up your system and reboot.
