Either a bad connection from laptop to screen but most likely a fried video card. You can try lifting the cover off to check the connection to the screen. Small flat head screwdriver is needed. Pry off the cover above the keyboard. Should pop out with very little effort.

Clean your cpu fan heat sink . Should be a few screws at the bottom to access the cpu fan and heatsink. Use compressed air in a can not a air compressor or your vacuum that will create to much static electricity and fry your motherboard.

You have a Windows installation disk, put that in the DVD drive and see if it reads that. The computer won't boot because Windows is not loaded on to your computer it sounds like.

with the computer off. start by having it plugged in. now press and hold down the 0 (zero) key. while holding it down press and release the power button.. as soon as you see it power up release the 0 (zero) key. this will restore to out of box state. it will take aprox and hour. You wont have to do anything just let it run the restore..

Your lcd's inverter has gone bad. Google: "Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 Inverter". They're about 20 bucks. Then to replace Unscrew or pry apart your screen bezel and it will probably be under or above your lcd. Then just unplug and replace.

If you have a restore CD then you can reinstall Windows.
If you have a Windows installation CD then you can use this to reinstall Windows.
Reinstalling Windows will wipe your data from the hard disk.

Hi, Follow these steps:- Get your Vista installation DVD and pop it into your drive.
- Then restart your computer.
- Press a key when you are prompted.
- Select a language, a time, a currency, and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next
-Select Repair. After which Vista's System Recovery Tools will start.-Select Start Up Repair and let Vista do its thing!

If the removing the cover not helped than it is probably the contact inside..and you should open it and clean the area ..or ..just change it with one from a similar model ..
first remove the hinges cover (top part with the speakers on ) ..and after that the screws and the keyboard will slide an inch toward the display and snap out ..
the keyboard is connected with a ribbon on the main board..

1. It's possible the AC adapter died while you were working on the laptop. The laptop was running until you had charge in the battery and after that it turned off. Can you test the AC adapter? Make sure it outputs correct voltage.
2. It's possible that you have bad RAM module. Do you know if you have two RAM modules installed in your laptop? Try removing them one by one. If one of the modules is bad, the laptop should start when your remove it.
