This is one of the most common questions/frustrations about Windows Vista. Even if you log on as an administrator, you don't really have administrative rights, thanks to UAC (User Account Control). UAC runs almost everything using non-administrator rights to help protect you from bad software that would abuse those administrator rights to change your settings or install viruses.

When you run a setup program, UAC should automatically prompt you to run it as an administrator using the UAC prompt (which Microsoft calls the "consent" prompt). If you don't see this, right-click the program, and then click Run As Administrator. Then, it will really run as an administrator. It should have prompted you, but for some reason, Vista didn't realize it needed Administrator rights. It wouldn't hurt to check the software developer's website for a version of the program made for Vista; that would also fix the problem.

If you really get sick of this, you can try disabling UAC-you'll be giving up a lot of Vista's security benefits, though, so I don't recommend it.

The problem could be a damage to the MB by excessive heat produced by Nvidia GPU. The only way to fix this permanently is to take out the MB and reflow the GPU with heat. You can find a video on youtube how to do it. You must take out the piece of gel between GPU and cooling unit and replace it with copper bar or penny made prior 1983 - still made out of copper. Also clean the fan. Use heat transfer paste like arctic cool - not a glue, on both sides of the penny. Install win7. Win7 does not use the coprocessor and will help to ran the notebook cooler. Install speedFan 4.40 - free utility to see what the temp is of your GPU and CPU. If you did good job it will stay around 55C. If your HP notebook is still running check the temp. If the GPU is running 80C or more it will melt the connections on the MB and quit working sooner or later.

Make sure your laptop doesnt get hot when you're gaming. The tiny casing of laptops are not meant for gaming. But if you wish to play games, use a cooling pad or give it a small rise from the table. And never use it on your lap.

you had a great configuration of your laptop for that game i think..but the problem of your laptop is related to the software....and sometimes a little bit related to the hardware,specially in the RAM....but what i can advice you is to check first some application programs that it can make complicated in the system and you can remove it..or try to remove the anti-virus if you have,and try to play again that games without anti-virus...if the same problem try to make recovery or reformatting..if the same problem, you can check the RAM even though its new,because sometimes there's some problem with parity error......
just check from the start and you will know whats the problem.....

old PCs do that, for many reasons. but no PC told at all just HP. 40 years of PCs ,10000 + models nobody can guess ever. but I do have the answer, in pure generic form. did you buy the PC like that used and bad Wifi. ?

1. the wifi card is missing, as was super common 10+ years ago.
2. someone put in the wrong card, not from HP list
3. HP blacklists (bios blocks) none HP cards (wifi)
4. the card needs a driver to work if not it is dead or 1/2 dead.
5. the PC needs 1 more driver to make the wifi buttons all work , all buttons related, if not they are dead or act odd.
6. The OS is infected, no OS told at all, not one clue nor if upgraded the OS, and not vast drivers are wrong or missing, (classic)

bad news now your bricked it just like miillions did google bios update bricked my PC and cry. why are you here and not at HP.com only they can recover bios. they changed the rules now 10 time. so only they know this, and are pain to deal with. UEFI is the enemy here, new rule and regressive as can be. in fact all new PCs can not be regressed, and some old now they even delete the 20 version of bios there, to force that. not saying they did that to your PC, but keep that in your head on all HP PC. the last bios upgrade stated, no going back. the Cntrl_+B might work , the flashback bios trick\ in your manual if you read it.
