Where can I get the motor unit to replace?
The motor is a common item to need replacement in bathroom vents. Replacements can be found just about anywhere that deals with electric motors. You might even be able to get a replacement where you originally purchased the unit. There are dozens of web sites that you can locate a replacement. http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com is just one. Simply do a web search on replacement bathroom vent motors. Also if the are able to purchase items from wholesale vendors you can get one from Grainger's. It should cost around $20 to $25
Part # 62345-000 (replacement motor part #).
However there is an alternative to replacement. This depends entirely on how handy you are with these kinds of things and how bad off the motor is. If your not comfortable with repairing this kind of thing don't bother with the rest of this.
I hate to replace anything that may be repairable. Unfortunately my friends know this and recently one asked me to look at his NuTone bathroom vent motor before he replaced it.
For the cost in time of an hour I was able to refurbished it.
A good way to check if it's a candidate for repair is to check how much play is in between the shaft and bushings. If you can feel movement then it's best to go ahead and replace it. If the problem is that the shaft is tight and just hard to turn then it may just need some cleaning and fresh lubrication.
The steps are simple. Once you have the motor removed from the vent cage you will see a pair of nuts and bolts holding two brackets in place. These brackets(one on either side of the coil) are what hold the shaft centered and house the bushings. Remove the bolts and the brackets. Be careful not to lose any of the washers on the shaft. These are spacers and need to be replace the same way they went on if they come off. All you need to do is clean both ends of the shaft put a little oil on the shaft and in the bushing and put it back together. If the motor has a plug and not just bare wires for reconnecting to the power supply then it's safe to just plug it in to any outlet for testing after you remount it in the vent cage. You will know right away if you were successful.
Hope this helps.

My NuTone Model LS-100SE motor
This is a hassle. I have had to replace several of these and it seems they come up with a new motor/model every few days. Seriously, call them and ask if there is a replacement motor for that unit. There may be. They may also give you a recommended replacement. this is usually a different size by a bit. You just have to trim some of the sheetrock to get it to fit. unless you can only find one that is smaller. I use caulk around the edges to get a good seal and cover up.
You can also try cleaning the "fan" part of the unit. this often gets dusty and becomes off balance. A good cleaning and one or two -small- drops of oil may buy you some time.

I purchased a reoplacemetn motor for my
The additional wires are for a starting capacitor, not included with the motor. The easiest way to hook-up is to order the Outlet Assembly p/n 88617000 (available at Coastal Tech Supply.) The assembly includes the capacitor, connector, and shroud; and will replace the existing outlet assembly in the housing. Minor electrical work is required to remove the old assembly and install the new one.

I need a replacement motor
Home depot usually has a good selection of replacement fans. They usually are a fan on a mounting plate, not just the fan motor itself. Sometimes you have to purchase the entire fan unit just to get the fan motor plate inside for a replacement part.

It just hums, the fan
Make sure the power is off before doing anything. the motor
may be clogged with dust, clean it out really good with a
blast of air (air can bought at radio shack) get a can of WD-40
and squirt a little on both bearing ends and turn the fan until
it feels easy to rotate. make sure no one is near the fan when
you turn it on because some of the WD-40 may splash all
over. If this does not work you may have to order another motor.

A very noisy. What can I do? What can I do? NuTone Model QT11ONB
Sometimes the shaft on these fans gets very dry and will squeel when it is on, a little iol will help quiet the squeel. Sometimes the fan gets some dust build up and it will make a noise every revolution when the blades hit the build up., this shoiuld be cleaned.

No power
Hello :
You should sniff the motor first . If there's a bad smell , then the motor is burned . You If you can fix it by yourself , then dissemble the unit,
remove the motor. Loosen the bolts running from end to end of the motor
and with emery cloth, clean the small metal plates on the ehd of the
armature. They should be bright copper color. If the armature is burnt,
they will be dull brown. The other thing is to replace the brushes in
the motor . Or take it to a repair shop if you are not sure that you
can fix it by yourself .
good luck .

Have a broan n688 ceiling exhaust fan in bathroom
First turn the power to the fan OFF. Take it down from the ceiling by removing the screws holding the cover on. Then remove the screws holding it to the ceiling. Then unscrew the screw caps that twist (connect) the wires from fan motor to the house wiring. Do a general clean up on the fan. Use an old paint brush to get in the hard to get at places. Rotate the fan by hand. If it does not rotate freely, put some oil on the shaft where it goes into the motor, and put some on where the shaft comes out the back. If it still does not rotate freely, buy a replacement and install it.

My bathroom fan was barely running when now it
Hi, W/D here.
These fan motors are fairly rugged, but they do give out sometimes. I have to change them out occasionally, and here's what I do: If the unit is presentable, I don't want to change out the entire unit, just the damaged part. The fans come in a variety of sizes (the ceiling box part, that is) and it is difficult to find one that fits in the same cutout. I unplug the fan from the receptacle in the ceiling box and remove the motor and mounting bracket. I buy the economy version of the fan, or the motor replacement kit at Lowe's/similar, and mount the new motor and fan blade in the old bracket and reinstall. Total cost is ~ $20.
Best regards, --W/D--
