Torpedo heater shuts off after several minuets,

These heaters require some preventative maintenance from year to year and here is my routine. There is a flame sensor in the burning tray, these collect carbon deposits, dust and dirt, and occasional insect nesting area. Locate the flame sensor by removing the top half of the heater, now remove it and clean with windex and soft terry cloth rag. Replace sensor and be sure it has an unobstructed view of the flame. Fuel is next, with the top still off locate the fuel nozzle, remove it and the say you can not clean these but I find that carb cleaner, q-tips and a tooth pick work just fine to clean them. Now when you remove the nozzle there is a screen filter directly behind it, these can corrode over storage so clean it too. Now inspect fuel lines for cracks, holes and dry rot. Put fuel system back together and the top on. The fuel line comes down thru the side panel and thru a filter then in to the tank. Remove side panel, locate fuel line, remove the filter and clean with a compressor and air gun. Blowing air thru the filter backwards will clean these right out. Put it back in line, put side panel back together. Next is the air filter on the inlet of the pump, they are foam. Clean this and dry it real good then put it back. Really look in the fuel tank to make sure you have no water, rust, or any other contaminants in the tank, fill with new fuel and you are ready for heat. Sounds complicated but really isn't, take your time and in an hour you will have this heater running like new.Good Luck

How to ajust dayton 155000

You say: When running it smells like Kerosene--
That is what you are burning in it, right?

Is it smoking--- like there is a poor combustion mixture?
-- like maybe not enough air pressure?

There is a pressure adjustment for both-- Please check the manual for adjusting the pressures for your particular model.

I replaced the fuel lines

The fuel line goes to the rear connection on the fuel nozzle. The air line from the compressor goes to the front connection on the fuel nozzle. Check your fuel nozzle to make sure it isn't clogged. Let me know what you find.

My heater keeps shutting off after about 30

Several thoughts on this heater Fuel delivery system, the fire eye sensor or dirty intake filter. These are the most common problems that I run in to with these heaters. Start by taking off the top half of the heater tube. Find the nozzle unscrew it and clean the screen in behind the nozzle, inspect the nozzle for corrosion or damage. If you see any restriction replace the nozzle pay attention to spray angle and GPH rating this is printed on the nozzle. They say you should not clean the nozzle because you can damage them, well carb cleaner q-tips and a tooth pick seem to work well and not cause damage. Locate the flame sensor these get a dirty lens and can shut down heaters as well. Try cleaning with windex and soft terry cloth rag, works wonderful.Back to fuel system inspect the fuel line look for holes dry rot or restrictions.Remove the screws on the side cover to expose the wiring and fuel line with filter to fuel tank. Remove the filter and clean it I use compressor and an air blow gun and blow backwards thru the filter cleans it right out.Inspect it and the lines reassemble and at the back opf the heater is a sponge type filter remove it. This is a foam filter wash it out, dry it real good put it back in and fire it up. Take your time pay attention to detail and this should help your ailing heater.
