If the pilot light stays light after you relaease the knob, but your burner will not light then it most likely is the tip switch. Install a jumper wire across the tip switch connections and your burner should light, do not operate with jumper wire as this is bypassing the saftey feature.

is that with a lighter or just the piezo on the unit. Is pilot getting gas?

There is probably a pressure regulator somewhere in the gas line... this will need to be adjusted to a higher pressure or it has gone bad...

Poor Combustion. Clean off any soot buildup around the burner. Make sure the fuel is clean and fresh.......if there are any doubt's about the fuel, Change it with fresh fuel. :-)

Clean the gas tube before the pilot light with a small wire. If you don't light these units every month or so you can get all sorts of bugs and critters that will call your gas tube home. Second option - Either the thermocouple is bad or the gas control valve is not opening completely. Try replacing the thermocouple

thermocouple probablly bad, is the flame covering the thermocouple.
the flame has to hit top portion of thermocouple to work correctlly.

Clicking is electric iginitor making a spark. I WOULD CHECK the pilot orifice for blockage
